Transforming futures through financial literacy
Imagine being the first in your family to graduate high school. For some young men from the Clontarf Foundation Academies, this dream is now a reality. BOQ were thrilled to welcome over 50 students from Kirwan, Gordonvale and Woree to BOQ Village in Newstead for their end-of-year trip recently.
Our partnership with the Clontarf Foundation, which began in 2017, supports the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. During their visit, five young men shared with BOQ Group’s people, and guests from the Qld Department of Education, powerful stories about how the program helped them attend school daily and achieve excellent results.
A key aspect of our partnership is facilitating financial literacy sessions. Over the past two years, BOQ representatives have delivered these sessions to Clontarf students across Queensland and the Northern Territory. We now offer three engaging Financial Literacy games: Budget Like a Boss, Pay Me Later Pals, and Scam Slam.
Financial literacy is crucial for everyone, especially young people transitioning into adulthood. At BOQ Group, we believe in supporting financial wellbeing and ensuring more Australians are financially literate. Our interns also led these sessions, gaining a deeper understanding of the Clontarf Foundation and the importance of partnerships that deliver social impact.
