What a show this years P&P Roadshow day was for our Bendigo Schools! The day was full of experiences that are sure to inspire all involved. 👨🍳🚒👩⚕️ Yesterday our P&P students experienced how a PET scan is used, discovered pathways to being a pilot while sitting in a small plane, undertook a mock court procedure in a real court room, engaged in junior fire training by hitting targets with a fire hose, created their own Fine Belgian chocolate masterpieces with a professional Chocolatise (and Mrs. Wonka!) and much, much more! Again we thank all of our partner businesses who went above and beyond to make this day so engaging for our students. We now have students aspiring to be pilots, vets, firefighters, doctors, engineers and all sorts of other occupations previously not even considered prior to these experiences. As the Electric Mine Consortium (EMC) wraps up its transformative journey, we would like to acknowledge the contributions it has made in advancing electrification in mining. Over the last four years, the EMC has made significant impact and strides towards achieving its vision and has been a vehicle for significant change across sectors. Designed specifically for the underground environment, the Bortana EV boasts a 2-tonne payload and unmatched corrosion resistance, setting a new standard in durability and efficiency. Join us in embracing the future of mining through the Bortana EV – because together, we can achieve a cleaner, safer and more efficient mining industry.

OEMs and technology companies are fundamental to the electrification journey. From the start, the EMC have recognised this, working hard to foster and encourage deeper relationships between miners, OEMs and technology companies. Trials are a critical component of building these relationships, as well as confidence for vehicle adoption. Over the life of the consortium, our members have been involved in numerous trials, representing every vehicle type used in a typical underground mine, including load and haul with traditional OEMs, to light and ancillary with non-traditional OEMs. Check out our video below in which several of our members talk about the role that collaboration and trials have helped in their decarbonisation work. #electrification #OEMs #decarbonisation #electricmine #technology #mining #miningcompany South32 Ampcontrol Perenti 3ME Technology Michelle Keegan Graeme Stanway

Green mining equipment shines in Electric Mine Outdoor Showcase! An important part of #TheElectricMine 2024's success is the fact we had no less than seven machines lined up outside in Car Park 4 at Crown Resorts Perth that encompass some of the breadth and depth of zero and lower emissions equipment that is already available today. While this Outdoor Showcase is open throughout the conference, on Day 2, May 22, the whole delegate group headed outside for two hours to view these machines. The machines included the world's largest battery-electric underground mining truck, Sandvik's 65-t-class #TH665B, which is currently being put through its paces at AngloGold Ashanti's #SunriseDam with contractor Barminco. This truck has been designed entirely around the Artisan™ battery pack and #electricdriveline. Then Epiroc had its own large truck there - a battery-electric 42 t #Minetruck MT42. Uniquely, the one on show in Perth is a diesel MT42 converted to battery operation. On top of its highly successful factory-delivered BEV line up, Epiroc has also been a pioneer in battery conversions, giving customers more options for existing machines. This particular machine is set to be used for pilot testing of the slotted #electricrail system from BluVein. Our third big hitter was Caterpillar Inc.'s 18.5-t-class R2900 XE. Already proving very popular Down Under, this diesel-electric model bridges the gap to full electric by bringing emissions wins today with its high efficiency electric drive system; plus it complements Cat's smaller all-electric R1700 XE. Next the world leader in underground mining utility solutions, Normet Group with its #Spraymec MF 050 VC SD. This is a dedicated #concretesprayer, purpose-built for modern mining operations in small and medium-sized tunnels. It combines Normet's #SmartDrive® battery-electric architecture with a state-of-the-art spraying system. The model shown was set to be deployed a BHP operation in Australia after the show. Then a glimpse into the future in the form of Komatsu Mining's #batteryelectric PC210E excavator. While this is a 20-ton-class machine mainly used in construction, it really shows the shape of things to come. Plus, Komatsu already offers today cable-electric solutions as well as diesel to electric conversions right up to its giant PC8000 excavator. Last but not least was the Bortana EV battery-electric vehicle which is designed to handle the aggressive operating environment of underground mines having a galvanised body & sealed chassis. It has a 150-km range & can be charged to 80% within 15 minutes. Also in Car Park 4, EPCA - Electric Power Conversions Australia had its converted Cat 777D rigid truck on show with a distinctive green Austin Engineering Ltd truck body - the 750 kW diesel engine has been switched out with a 1,000 kW electric motor & 2 MWh of Xerotech batteries. The conversion was done at its Hazelmere workshop, WA. #futureofmining #mineofthefuture #towardsnetzero

Electric Mine 2024 officially now our biggest yet The Electric Mine 2024 is coming up fast - the event, being held May 21-23 at Crown Resorts #Perth, Western Australia, has already surpassed the just over 730 final attendee figure seen at The Electric Mine 2023 in Tucson, Arizona!    We believe this is testament to several factors. First, it remains the only true global #miningelectrification event – we only hold one Electric Mine conference per year in one of the world's major mining hubs – first it was Canada, then Sweden, the US and now Australia. This ensures that we have the most diverse international audience possible, for example when it comes to mine operator and contractor attendees.   Second, given the depth of our regular editorial coverage of mine electrification news in International Mining, especially related to mobile #miningfleets both surface and underground, we have very strong sponsor and exhibitor support from all of the major industry equipment OEMs and most of the key third-party technology suppliers. Third, we also have an in-depth speaker agenda for a conference of this type – primarily consisting of traditional detailed presentations which are complemented by a few focused panel discussions rather than being dominated by the panel-type format. Finally, of course the conference is at the right time, as all major stakeholders work together to try to overcome the challenges of reducing emissions and meeting Scope 1 and 2 targets with new approaches and technologies while at the same time maintaining productivity.   We could not be more excited for the 2024 event as the May 21 start date approaches! And we will continue to try to ensure that we do everything we can to stay abreast of the topic as well as continuing to develop the event based on feedback from participants. As a teaser, we can also reveal now that the 2025 event will be in May in #Santiago, #Chile – more will be revealed on this in Perth! And you are not too late to register - we still have room! Go to www.theelectricmine.com and be part of the event in person
