Nothing short of inspiring. The Australasian Housing Institute's 'Conversation with Women on Accelerated Action to speed up gender equality' celebrated the courage and confidence of exceptional women at Parliament House preceding International Women's Day. Wendy McCarthy AO urged the 140-strong audience to learn to take a risk, Jennifer Westacott AO identified leadership as a collective dynamic, Rebecca Deans highlighted advances in reproductive health, and Clr Yvonne Weldon AM highlighted unsung inspirational women such as Patyegarang, a young Gamaraigal woman who was pivotal in preserving the Gadigal language. NSW Minister for Housing and Homelessness Rose Jackson celebrated the progress achieved by women in the sector and noted that housing is infrastructure while Minister for Women, Seniors and the Prevention of Domestic Violence Jodie Harrison advocated that housing is both a human right and a gendered issue. The event also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Australasian Housing Institute and the birthday of the inimitable Unis Goh.
