We’ve delivered energy upgrades to more than 1,000 social housing properties, helping to improve living conditions, lower emissions and save tenants $$ on their energy bills 🙌 Thanks to the $175 million Social Housing Energy Performance Initiative (SHEPI), a mix of Homes NSW-owned and managed properties across regional NSW and Western Sydney have received upgrades including: 🚿 new heat pump hot water heaters ☀️ solar sharing systems 🏠 ceiling insulation 👩🍳 electric stoves, and ❄️ split system air conditioners. Homes in these regions that are managed by Aboriginal community housing providers have also received upgrades, with another 23,000 social housing homes expected to benefit through the support of SHEPI till June 2027. “My new home – I love it!”. ❤️ Karen has been a resident at the Bonnyrigg Estate for over 44 years and will see her community grow as we commence work on the next stage of subdivision in Sydney’s south-west. Around 65 new social and 210 new residential lots are set to be delivered in Bonnyrigg, in addition to a park with amenities such as a basketball court, playground, bike track and picnic areas. 🏀🚲 The Bonnyrigg Renewal Project is a 30-year initiative, which will eventually deliver 3,000 homes for more than 9,400 residents. More than 13 hectares of public open space, including parklands, a new town centre, community centre and garden will be included as part of this exciting transformation. 🏡 Developed in collaboration with our construction partner Traders In Purple, this ambitious project is a major step in tackling the current housing crisis and providing more homes in growing areas in need of more housing now and in the future. Bonnyrigg is an important project helping us deliver on our vision to deliver quality homes and services that change lives and end homelessness. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gM-74ggC #SocialHousing #HomesNSW #NSWGovernment #Bonnyrigg

“It's great having services like Homes NSW here today because they get to engage with community and get feedback from people” This year, we were proud sponsors of Woolloomoolivin’, the annual festival of urban arts and culture in Woolloomooloo in Sydney’s inner city. 🎉 Since its start in 2016, this vibrant festival has become a beloved event, drawing people and families from all over. Our team loved connecting with the community at our stall, where locals shared their pride in Woolloomooloo’s diversity and contributed ideas on neighborhood improvements using our interactive post-it boards. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage the community on what makes the area so special, and how we can make it even better. It’s all part of our work to deliver quality homes and services that change lives and end homelessness. #HomesNSW #Woolloomooloo #CommunityEngagement #SocialHousing

“It means so much to me and my mum. This is the first time we were ever going to rent or to live in a brand-new unit. It’s so beautiful and we’re so excited.” ❤️ Gina and her mother are just two of around 120 residents who will be moving into our newly completed $32 million social and affordable housing complex in Riverwood, on the land of the Bidjigal people. In partnership with Housing Australia and SGCH this 51-home development will provide safe and secure housing for people facing housing insecurity, a stronger safety net for women and children escaping domestic violence and women over the age of 55. Modern and energy efficient, the one- and two-bedroom units feature a 7-star NatHERS energy rating, bike storage room and an expansive landscaped communal area with barbeques to create a sense of community. Today we welcomed His Majesty King Charles III to our landmark social housing development in Cowper Street, Glebe 👑 Developed in partnership with The King's Trust Australia – who provided design and consultancy services to support us reaching a six-star green rating and incorporate a cross-laminated timber (CLT) structure that was produced sustainably in Australia – the project will provide a home to around 130 people once complete. Joined by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, NSW Premier Chris Minns and NSW Minister for Housing Rose Jackson, His Majesty toured the construction site and met current social housing tenants and three young apprentices participating in The King’s Trust Australia’s new four-week ‘Get Into Construction’ training program. The Glebe project – being delivered by Kane Constructions Pty Ltd with social housing tenancies to be managed by Bridge Housing Limited – is comprised of 75 modern social apartments and terrace houses. Designed by Sydney architectural firm JOHNSON PILTON WALKER PTY LTD, the project complements the historical Victorian-era architecture unique to Glebe and the surrounding wool store buildings. We’re proud to announce the completion of our first homes in Casino, in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, as part of the NSW Government’s flood recovery program. Homes NSW received $150 million to deliver approximately 240 new and replacement homes in regions impacted by flooding, including Ballina, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed. 🏡 In Casino, we’ve delivered: • 1 x 3-bedroom adaptable home • 1 x 4-bedroom home, and • 2 x 4-bedroom adaptable homes, which will provide much needed relief for around 20 people. ‘𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲’ means the design of the home allows it to be modified and accessible to meet the changing needs of tenants. 🎉 Celebrating our Good Design Australia Award for Good Design for Social Housing, recognised in the Social Impact category. With roots dating back to 1958, the Australian Good Design Awards are the country’s most prestigious international accolade for design and innovation. This years’ theme, ‘The Design Effect’, underscores the crucial role design plays in shaping better products, services, spaces and experiences. 🥰 Developed in partnership with Government Architect NSW, Good Design for Social Housing explains the relevance of good design for social housing and what’s important when new homes are designed and built. They are used throughout the development lifecycle by project teams, delivery partners and our stakeholders to achieve important design goals including tenant wellbeing, a sense of belonging, better outcomes through collaboration, and better value for the people of NSW. The Australian Good Design Awards jury noted: “By prioritising tenant wellbeing throughout the development lifecycle, this initiative ensures that social housing projects meet the needs of residents effectively." “The integration of design goals with practical delivery realities demonstrates a strong commitment to enhancing living conditions and quality of life for social housing tenants.” Good Design for Social Housing continues to be an important part of our work to deliver quality homes and services that change lives and end homelessness. We're getting people off the social housing waitlist and into new homes 🙌 Our recently completed project in Fairfield, Western Sydney - the traditional land of the Cabrogal people - saw the transformation of ageing cottages into 4 modern two-bedroom homes, soon to welcome 9 new residents. One of the first projects delivered under the Social Housing Accelerator Fund (SHAF), this is a great example of what is possible when state and federal governments work together to address the housing crisis. This is just the start, as we will be delivering 400 social homes through SHAF support – with $610m invested in fast-tracking new housing across regional and metro NSW. We’re also setting the standard for how social housing should look – considered, contemporary, indistinguishable from private housing. It’s all part of our work to deliver quality homes and services that change lives and end homelessness. #SocialHousing #HomesNSW #SHAF #AffordableHousing

Sharing insight and expertise at the recent prefabAUS OFFSITE 2024 conference 💡 As well as our very own Michael Wheatley, head of Housing Portfolio at Homes NSW, providing the latest updates on our $10m MMC program and taskforce, we also hosted a working group on building the industry and the journey to adoption. The focus was on addressing the housing crisis, collaboration, intellectual property as well as lessons learnt and perceptions. We heard about: 👫 The shared drive to address the housing crisis and affordability, create a sustainable construction industry and to provide shelter for all Australians. 🤝 The barriers to delivering value and quality in the MMC space including the lack of pipeline, scale and understanding of different offsite methods. 🔨 The wealth of innovative ideas and solutions on building the industry, including platforms to share lessons learnt, micro credentials and design for manufacturing and assembly courses. 🏘 The opportunity that display homes and villages present to showcase the quality, functionality, and beautiful designs to address negative perceptions. Read more about our MMC program and our commitment to deliver more permanent quality homes, faster to change lives and end homelessness 👉 https://lnkd.in/gZqW2Qfp #HomesNSW #NSWGovernment #MMC #SocialHousingInnovation
