  • As part of National Skills Week we hear from three students, at Catholic schools, who are currently undertaking Vocational Education and Training (VET). Jaydon, from Compass Catholic Community is studying a Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology. “I have always had a love for cars since I was young. Once I have finished the Certificate II I hope to move on to complete the Certificate III and become a fully qualified mechanic. One of the best things is being able to learn from kind, passionate and knowledgeable teachers.” Daisy from Sacred Heart College is studying a Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics at the French Beauty Academy. “Through the theory work I have completed at VET, I have learnt multiple retail and workplace skills. The best thing about studying VET is developing and learning new skills and meeting new people.” Antony, is only in Year 11 at Thomas More College, Salisbury Downs, but has already completed two VET courses and is starting his third and fourth in Certificate III Business and Certificate III Hospitality. “I began my VET studies to gain a more personalised and hands-on education tailored to my career aspirations. This approach allows me to directly engage with industry-relevant experiences, ensuring I'm well-prepared for the workforce and equipped with the expertise needed to excel in my chosen field.” Catholic Education South Australia is proud to support students to study Nationally Accredited VET courses from Year 10 onwards. #NationalSkillsWeek #RaisingHeartsAndMinds #vetinschools #Skills

Today marks the start of National Skills Week. Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses can be a 'Game Changer' for school students! By studying a VET course at school, students gain industry and employability skills, develop their interest beyond the curriculum, get a head start on their future careers and count credits towards their SACE. Students studying Year 10, 11 and 12 in Catholic schools can undertake a wide range VET courses as a component of their SACE through their Catholic school and at Western Technical College-South Australia. Students wanting to study full-time at a Technical College can enrol at Marcellin Campus, Cardijn College or St Patrick's Technical College. Catholic Education South Australia is proud to support students to study Nationally Accredited VET courses from Year 10 onwards. #NationalSkillsWeek #RaisingHeartsAndMinds #vetinschools #skills
