We're chuffed to have won the UnLtd. 'Campaign for Good' award at the amazing Big Dream event last week. It was awarded to us alongside our friends at Zenith Media Australia and MissingSchool , for our Don't You Forget About Me campaign. Big shout out to our friends at Scoundrel too. So good to see this campaign working its behind off, and watch this space for some exciting new developments... Also, doff of the cap to the remarkable Rebecca Darley, who gave one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking and, ultimately inspiring speeches we've ever seen. There was not a dry eye in the house and rightly so. Hers is an amazing story worthy of a Hollywood movie. Thanks for sharing it Rebecca.

"In this poignant yet uplifting stop-motion film, by Palliative Care Queensland, crafted by Cocogun and Rowdy, viewers are encouraged to face death with preparation rather than fear." Thank you LBBonline - Little Black Book for featuring The Cassette in Work of the Week! Check out the article here: https://lnkd.in/gaf43-3E

Take a peek behind-the-scenes at the making of ‘The Cassette’! All 126 seconds of the film were crafted with immense care alongside our incredible production partners Rowdy. Shooting just a few seconds per day demands patience, precision, and dedication, and every frame of ‘The Cassette’ was a labour of love. Along the way, we developed a love for tiny things, from a tiny rubbish bin being filled with tiny paper scrunches to a minuscule glass being filled with a few drops of water from a pipette. Enjoy.

We've been working on something super special for the last few months with our partners at Palliative Care Queensland. It's a thought-provoking, poignant and taboo-busting new campaign to get people to think about the unthinkable. Death comes to all of us but when we're prepared for it, things are easier for everyone. In this story, our protagonist faces his final chapter head on and, rather than bowing out meekly, decides to go out in his own unique way (with a little help from The Pixies). This campaign's been painstakingly crafted and we are so proud to have it out in the world. Thanks to all the amazingly talented partners who helped us bring this to life. Our MD Chiquita King was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the B&T Women in Media awards on Friday night. This snap of CK hugging her daughter Lexi says it all - celebrating a win that’s as much about family as it is about business. CK said: "I came from nothing. And the only reason this win was somehow remotely possible is because a handful of amazing women early on made me aware of my potential. I've spent my career reaching for what they believed I was capable of and it turns out that they were right to believe in me. This is what the night was really about. An acknowledgement of belief in each other, which makes believing in ourselves much less daunting. So to every daughter that was not in the room that night and to every rising star that was, continue to surround yourself with women who believe in you. And more importantly, make each other feel seen. That's how I got here." CK, we are so proud of you. Congrats to all the other finalists and winners on the night. And a big thank you to B&T The Misfits Media Company David Hovenden Rosie Oakshott Romy Bradridge Tom Fogden

AWARD School has come to a close and Cocogun tutors Jimmy Williams and Loz Maneschi are feeling reflective. Check out their thoughts on why not having a f*cking clue is more useful than you think when it comes to creating unique, fresh creative work - from The Wall to the biggest briefs that land on your desk. Thanks Campaign Brief for the feature.

Cocogun supports The Aunties and Women's Health Victoria's brilliant new initiative, Support Talk. It's an Australian first online training program that teaches mentors simple and important steps to respond to disclosures of gender-based discrimination and violence. It’s available to everyone to access for the next three months. This is seriously needed so please give it a try. https://lnkd.in/gwHQ2vB3

Thank you Susan Horsburgh for taking the time to ask our co-founder Chiquita King some pertinent questions about the elements that helped inform the core of what Cocogun is, what we stand for, and the legacy we hope to fulfil. A shoutout to all our amazing clients and partners for making our dream a reality.
When Chiquita King was growing up in apartheid South Africa, money was tight, but her activist mum was always generous: "If you can help, why wouldn't you?" she'd ask. Four decades on, CK has put that ethos into action at Cocogun, the advertising agency she opened with Ant Melder five years ago. The pair stitched generosity into the business plan from the start: five percent of the workload would be pro bono and five percent of Cocogun's annual net profit would fund a UTS scholarship for Indigenous creatives. CK says it was small acts of kindness that helped her realise her own potential. "When somebody makes you feel seen," she says, "it makes a difference. It's like, 'Maybe I'm going to be somebody.' That's what we want this scholarship to do." More and more, it seems media companies are viewing social-impact work as a win-win. Employees want to work for socially conscious companies, and generosity breeds goodwill among clients and customers. "Increasingly, customers are expecting the brands they feel loyal to, to be doing good work," says Are Media CEO Jane Huxley, who spoke to me for a story in the latest Women In Media Australia newsletter. "That's becoming more of an expectation of humans." Are Media Pty Ltd launched the Change AREgenda in 2018 as a way to unite the content company's magazine titles behind a single cause. Last year it was women facing homelessness and this year it's the Cost of Caring campaign - worth $5 million in advertising and editorial content. The campaign will only be deemed a success, however, if the Albanese government commits to paying super on carers' payments in the 2025 federal budget. Jane argues the goal has to be specific and measurable - GST removed from sanitary products, coercive control criminalised - "otherwise you're just putting content out into the world". Social-impact work can't be just virtue signalling, stresses Corinna Fawls, the head of History Matters, a division of comms agency History Will Be Kind: "Every organisation is having to stand up and be good in some way, understand what their purpose is and impact is - and communicate that."
