We have a number of exciting opportunities available at Covalent as we build our team.

About us

Covalent Lithium is committed to enabling a cleaner energy future by meeting the demand for battery quality lithium hydroxide. As a joint venture between Wesfarmers and SQM, we utilise decades of expertise, curiosity, and excellence to produce solutions that address the need for sustainable energy. Our Mount Holland project, which includes a mine, concentrator, and our Kwinana refinery, is strategically positioned for both local and international markets. It is set to produce approximately 50,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide annually, enough to power around 1 million EVs and replace regular vehicles on the road each year, with an expected mine life of around 50 years. When fully constructed, Covalent will be a unique, fully integrated producer of lithium hydroxide in Western Australia. The establishment of a mine, concentrator, and refinery in Western Australia allows complete control over the end-to-end value chain. Covalent Lithium is committed to sustainable best practices, including researching the development of circular economy product use and reuse, with careful consideration of the impact on individuals, communities, and the environment. With the completion of the refinery construction anticipated in late 2024 and the first lithium hydroxide product expected in the first half of 2025, we are proudly poised to shape the future of energy in WA and across the globe.

On September 18, Chile celebrates Fiestas Patrias, a vibrant national holiday that commemorates the country's independence and showcases the rich diversity and traditions of Chilean culture. We take this opportunity to honour our Chilean Joint Venture Partner, Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM), the world’s largest lithium producer, for their invaluable contributions and wealth of technical expertise in lithium chemical refining processes. We warmly wish our Chilean team members at Covalent Lithium and the team at SQM a joyous Fiestas Patrias! Carolina Valdes, Laboratory Technician at Covalent Lithium shares the personal significance of this day: “Historically, it marks a key process in the birth of the Republic of Chile, a victory that undoubtedly couldn’t have been achieved without years of struggle and battles against the Spanish forces. For me and my family, it’s a feeling of loyalty and love, where we celebrate the preservation of our culture and national history.” Pictured: Mauricio Olivares, Operations & Project Vice-President at SQM, and Juan Canales, Manager Process Technology & Innovation at Covalent Lithium. #FiestasPatrias #ChileanIndependenceDay #SQM

This weekend, Covalent Lithium attended the Yilgarn Agricultural Show in sunny Southern Cross. As a sponsor of the event, we valued the opportunity to connect with local communities in the Shire of Yilgarn and surrounding areas near our Mt Holland mine and concentrator. It was a fantastic day of family fun and sharing our progress as we develop our fully integrated lithium mining and refining operations. We’re looking forward to coming back next year! #covalentlithium #community #miningandrefining

Provisional Psychologist- Industrial and Organisational Psychology at UWA

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve successfully completed my second placement at Covalent Lithium Pty Ltd 🎉 This experience has been incredibly rewarding and transformative. Over the past 4 months, I have had the opportunity to deep dive into leadership development, psychosocial safety, organisational development, capability frameworks and collaborate with talented professionals in the industry. Some key learnings from this placement: 🌟 Often when we think about mining, we think about the huge equipment, vast open pits and the extraction of valuable minerals. However, at its core, mining is not just about digging into the ground, it's about a complex and coordinated effort that involves quality leadership from the top down. 🌟 Safety is key, both physical and psychological health of all employees. 🌟Developing effective leaders is crucial for driving innovation, maintaining safety and achieving operational excellence. At this placement, I was able to design and develop a leadership assessment tool to support leaders in their development by highlighting key strengths and growth opportunities. A huge thank you to my amazing team and mentors in the Learning and Development team, it was a pleasure to work with (and learn from) people in the mining industry. And to Luke Greenwood for your guidance and support throughout this journey. Your insights and encouragement have been invaluable, and I’m grateful for the chance to learn and grow in such a dynamic field. Looking ahead, I’m excited to take the skills and knowledge I’ve gained into new opportunities and challenges. #Mining #CareerGrowth #MiningIndustry #OrganisationalDevelopment

Today, on April 25th, we honour Anzac Day, marking the day when Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on Gallipoli in 1915 as part of the Allied invasion. We reflect upon the courage and sacrifice of over 1.5 million Australian service men and women who have served our country in all conflicts, wars, and peacekeeping operations, and we honour the veterans who are valued members of our team at Covalent Lithium. Early this morning, our teams gathered for commemorative Dawn Services at our Mt Holland site and at our Kwinana Refinery. Peter Firth, veteran and General Manager Health, Safety, Environment and Communities says, “Anzac Day is important to me because it is an opportunity to reflect on the past. I remember my parents and grandparents who have passed away after serving our country, giving my family and I the opportunity to live in Australia with the standards we have today.” Sue Stokes, veteran and Administrative Services Manager also reflects on today’s significance, “Anzac Day is important to me as this is the day that we collectively remember those veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice, returned home, and those who have and are facing physical and/or mental challenges as a result of their service.” Let us stand united in remembrance. #LestWeForget #ANZACDay #ANZACSpirit #Remembrance

📣 Breaking news! 📣 We’re proud to announce Covalent Lithium Pty Ltd's world-class mine and concentrator are officially open and ramping up lithium production in Western Australia. To commemorate the major milestone, the Premier of Western Australia, the Hon Roger Cook MLA, will be joining Wesfarmers Managing Director and CEO Rob Scott and SQM CEO Ricardo Ramos for an opening ceremony today at Mount Holland, located around 400 kilometres east of Perth. The opening ceremony marks a major milestone for the Covalent Lithium Pty Ltd and Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers’ teams. In just four years, the teams have transformed a greenfields site into a world-leading lithium operation, which is on track to deliver 100,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate this financial year. The commissioning brings Covalent Lithium Pty Ltd a step closer to becoming a fully-integrated producer of premium, battery-grade lithium hydroxide for the global electric vehicle market. That vision will be realised when construction of the refinery, located in Kwinana near Perth, is completed and first lithium hydroxide sales are achieved in FY2024/25.
