International Women's Day 2025 You can't ask leaders that! For International Women’s Day 2025, we did. Our friends at Public Sector Commission quizzed 10 female CEOs in the WA public sector about what success looks like and what it took for them to get there. The CEOs, including our Director General Lanie Chopping, talk about their motivations and challenges, the contributions of people and families, and their unwavering service to Western Australians. Reflecting on this year’s theme of March Forward: For ALL Women and Girls, they show their commitment to equal opportunity for all. You can share their journey here: https://lnkd.in/d4Fp7BQ3 Tomorrow is International Women’s Day. Celebrated globally on 8 March each year, International Women’s Day honours the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This year’s theme is 'March Forward: For ALL Women and Girls' and commemorates 30 years since 189 nations adopted the United Nation’s Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action for achieving gender equality. Gender equality won’t happen just because we want it to. Changing culture takes time and it is essential that we continue to March Forward: For ALL Women and Girls in the right direction. New online database sheds new light on Wadjemup/Rottnest Island incarcerations 💻 A new online database with an interactive map is shedding new light on the historical incarceration of Aboriginal people on Wadjemup/Rottnest Island, enabling descendants to learn more about family members sent to the former prison. 📜 The Wadjemup project involved years of research, examining up to 8,000 historical records from 1900 to 1931. The research, undertaken by the DLGSC's Aboriginal History WA unit, involved checking police documents, court records and newspapers to uncover important stories.
