The Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) supports the Premier as head of the Western Australian Government. DPC is responsible for providing quality policy and administrative advice and support to enable the Premier and Government to serve the WA community well. DPC Functions The Department of the Premier and Cabinet's Strategic Plan focuses on providing two key outcomes - the administration of Executive Government services and Government policy management. The areas that provide these services include: • Policy and Reform • Infrastructure and Major Projects • State Services • Constitutional Centre • Office of State Security and Emergency Coordination.   • “Knowing when to lead and when to step back is important.” – Jessica Gethin Our Department, and invited guests, were fortunate to have award winning principal conductor and artistic advisor, Jessica Gethin at our latest Speaker Series event, in partnership with Leadership WA. Jess is currently Principal Conductor of the West Australian Ballet, Artistic Advisor for Orchestra Victoria, and Head of Orchestral Studies and Conducting at the WA Academy of Performing Arts. Earlier this year she was inducted into the 2024 WA Women’s Hall of Fame. Through her experiences working in the arts industry for symphonies, ballets, operas and film, Jess was able to share valuable lessons from the podium that could be taken into any role in the public service: 🎵 the power of silent leadership 🎵 active listening 🎵 how to give and receive feedback with respect 🎵 respecting the value of different roles Supporting the objectives of our Strategic Plan, to deliver a brighter future for WA, the Speaker Series offers an opportunity for our people to be inspired by guest speakers to increase their personal learnings and discover new ways of working.

  • Strengthening leadership to benefit our community 💗    Our Director General, Emily Roper, recently met with Kristy Darnborough, who was the recipient of our DPC Community Leadership Scholarship as part of Leadership WA’s Rising Leadership Program.    We announced this scholarship to provide an opportunity to an emerging leader making an impact in the community in their area of work.      Kristy is a manager for Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) Services with Relationships Australia WA. She shared with Emily how grateful she was to be able to take learnings back to her team to make an even better impact for victim survivors of FDV.     The scholarship has strengthened Kristy’s leadership skills and the values she brings to her work, including connection and integrity.     It’s an honour our Department was able to support Kristy’s leadership journey, with her work in such an important space for our community.
