Last week we were lucky to visit one of eBay’s recycled parts sellers New Model Wreckers in Smithfield, Sydney. The eBay team had a tour of the facility and learned about the meticulous processes behind auto part recycling and how the parts find their new home. The Auto Parts Recyclers Association of Australia (APRAA) estimates that 100,000 tonnes of waste from end of life vehicles is generated annually. Sellers like New Model Wreckers not only help auto parts stay in circulation, saving them from landfill, but also save consumers money which is more important than ever during the current cost of living crisis. We are proud to partner with the tens of thousands of top rated auto parts and accessories businesses operating on eBay. Thank you to New Model Wreckers for lifting the hood on this innovative industry.

In the last few weeks, our team participated in #IAmRemarkable workshops, facilitated by Amy A. and Nanor Mouradian. These sessions were instrumental in honing the skill of self-promotion, an essential yet frequently underutilised tool in professional advancement. The ability to effectively communicate our achievements is not only a necessity for career progression, but a useful tool for inner-monologue. We were reminded that it’s not bragging if it is based on facts. 💼✨ Throughout the workshop, our team members were equipped with strategic approaches to confidently articulate their accomplishments and prepare them for mid-year feedback and evaluation sessions. Thank you to everyone who participated and the facilitators for making everyone feel comfortable to practise self-promotion without fear of judgement. #IAmRemarkable #CareerGrowth #SelfPromotion #ProfessionalDevelopment #NegotiationSkills

On Tuesday we were joined by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation at our Sydney HQ for #NAIDOCWeek, where we learned about the fantastic work the organisation does to support remote communities across Australia, providing access to books and translating and publishing well-known stories in First Nations languages. We’re committed to building a diverse team and learning about the many cultures inside and outside of eBay. It was a great opportunity to raise awareness of and celebrate the history and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

With 24 years of heritage, eBay Australia has been a pioneer in recommerce, offering a trusted platform to buy and sell pre-loved fashion. This week, we have continued our commitment to driving the circular fashion movement forward at Australian Fashion Week. We brought pre-loved fashion to the Australian Fashion Week runway through our partnerships with designers ANNA QUAN and Liandra Swim. We’ve also been spreading the pre-loved message to fashion aficionados through eBay’s Pre-loved Runway and the creation of The Covet List - eBay’s pre-loved style guide in partnership with our Style Squad Elliot Garnau, Jessica Angela Alizzi, Jess Pecoraro and Maggie Zhou. eBay research revealed 70% of Australians own a pre-loved fashion item and nine in ten are likely to buy the same or more pre-loved fashion items in the future. We’re proud to be a part of such a pivotal moment in the industry. Anne-Marie Cheney, Thanh Nguyen, Harriet Browne, Kourtney Shaw, Mackenzie Geeves, Amy A., Geraldine Torrens and Natalie Lai Check out the Covet List here: https://lnkd.in/ggnz-WFT
