🤝 EDL’s Young Professional’s Network (YPN) gives graduate program employees and student interns opportunities to socialise and develop a peer-support network during the early phases of their careers.   🍽 The YPN recently got out of the office for a day of volunteering at FareShare’s Brisbane Kitchen, which is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere!   🍱 Fareshare is a non-profit organisation that cooks and distributes frozen, pre-packaged meals to those in need. Established in 2001, Fareshare has made and distributed millions of delicious, healthy and nutritious meals to Australian’s experiencing hardship.   🚚 The YPN team toured the new and advanced commercial kitchen and learnt about Fareshare’s work in remote and disaster-struck communities.    👨🍳 👩🍳 The volunteers let loose their competitive spirit and raced to perfectly pack 2186 meals. Story and pictures by Communications Intern Campbell Wren Great work YPN! #youngguns #volunteering #teamwork

🖐 Meet Enrique Cisneros, the Maintenance Supervisor at our Tessman Road Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) plant in San Antonio, Texas.  👷♂️ Enrique joined EDL in 2021 as the team was being assembled to launch the Tessman Road facility, which has capacity to produce 1.2M MMBtu of pipeline quality renewable natural gas, or biomethane, per year from waste landfill gas.  🔧 He said despite being new to renewable energy when he started at Tessman Road, the previous 30 years spent maintaining plant and robotic systems in food production, commercial laundries and automotives, meant he quickly picked up how to keep his new site running smoothly. 🗨 And with the perspective gained from immigrating to the United States from Mexico, and learning to speak English as a second language, Enrique said the most important part of maintaining a plant well is the teamwork and clear communication amongst his colleagues.  “I definitely think EDL’s best asset is its people,’’ Enrique said.  Thank you, Enrique! 🚌 RNG produced at Tessman Road is used to power several hundred of the Via Metropolitan Transit bus fleet in San Antonio or sent to customers in Canada where it offsets natural gas supplied in reticulated networks for domestic and commercial use. #renewablenaturalgas #RNG #decarbonization #teamwork

Community connections in the Top End 🌏 👨🎓 👩🎓 Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting David Boustead from the Northern Territory Department of the Chief Minister, and Allison Grierson, @Danielle Doughty, Dominic Upton, Robert Schwerdt and @Tim Francis from Charles Darwin University (CDU), at our multi-award-winning Jabiru Hybrid Renewable Power Station. “This is amazing engineering and a truly inspiring asset for the region. We’re excited about the opportunities for future collaboration and the positive impact we can make together," said CDU’s Director Strategy and Partnerships – Faculty of Health Allison Grierson.    🤝 At EDL, we believe in building strong relationships with the communities we serve. These visits are an essential part of ensuring that our projects not only deliver sustainable energy solutions but also create lasting benefits for the region. 🏆 🏆 In 2023 the Jabiru Hybrid Renewable Power Station won the Engineers Australia Excellence Award, Northern Division and in 2022 the operation won Solar Power Project of the Year-Australia at the Asian Power Awards. ☀ The power station supplies the town of Jabiru with 100% renewable energy during the day, with excess solar energy stored in batteries to continue renewable energy penetration into the evening. This enables the power station to deliver more than 50% renewable energy overall. #hybridrenewableenergy #solar #sustainability

Meet Toby Rowden, a dedicated gas field specialist working in EDL’s landfill gas to renewable energy business. Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Toby has worked with EDL since 2017. In 2023, he was offered an opportunity to take up a role in EDL’s Australian east-coast landfill gas generation operations, so he and his wife relocated. Since arriving in Sydney, he’s embraced barbecuing (outdoors), Australia’s passion for several different ‘footy’ codes and travelling to some of our most notable natural landmarks. His phone is full of sunset pics taken over the last six months, including this particular favourite captured in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales. Toby said while the process of renewable energy generation from landfill gas is virtually the same worldwide, he has developed “a new appreciation for the impacts of different climates on production, and a deeper understanding of EDL’s global contributions to sustainable energy supply”. EDL is proud to have dedicated professionals like Toby, whose expertise and passion drive our mission to be the leading global producer of sustainable distributed energy. #renewableenergy #landfillgas #bioenergy

On this UN International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, we'd like to recognise an Indigenous-owned business that helps maintain EDL power stations in the remote Kimberley region in Western Australia. Meet Casey Sibosado, owner and operator of Ngalgun Civil (Nal-gun), named after the apical ancestor of the Bard tribe to which Casey belongs. Based in Broome, Casey founded Ngalgun Civil in 2022 after calling time on his Australian Rules Football career, which included a stint with the Fremantle Dockers AFL club. Casey has more than a decade of experience in mining and construction and his team perform backfill and fire break maintenance at EDL power stations at Ardyaloon, Beagle Bay, Djarindjin and One Arm Point. These sites are part of EDL's West Kimberley Power Project, with @Horizon Power, that supplies electricity to nearly 40,000 residents in the region. The work is vital in helping EDL's sustainable maintenance of these operations, by keeping fuel levels down to minimise bushfire hazards, and maintaining drainage networks to prevent soil erosion. Thank you Casey and the Ngalgun Civil team. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #remoteenergy

    Chief Operating Officer at EDL

This year, I’m ‘getting on the tools’ to help @TRACTION provide vulnerable young people with opportunities to build skills and resilience, in an environment that nurtures their social and emotional wellbeing.   @EDL has been a long-term supporter of TRACTION, and this year I’m participating in the CEO Bike Build to raise funds for the programs they run. On Friday, 6th September I’ll be pairing up with a young mentor who will guide us through construction of a new BMX bike, that they’ll get to keep.   I would love your support in reaching my $5,000 fundraising goal! To donate, please use this link and search for me in the CEO register: https://lnkd.in/ejQ7j-Y3   TRACTION is a charity that runs workshops for 12–15-year-olds who are experiencing struggles and disengagement from school and social life.   TRACTION emphasises building trust, developing confidence, teaching new skills and strengthening work ethic to help young people unlock their full potential.

👷♀️ Meet Catherine, a Graduate Process Engineer who is working at EDL’s Maitland liquified natural gas (LNG) plant at Karratha in the West Kimberley region of Western Australia. 💡 Catherine joined EDL in 2022 for our three-year Engineering Graduate Program and said she was “drawn to the company’s strong focus on safety and commitment to providing diverse, sustainable energy through innovative technologies.” This year Catherine is based at our Maitland LNG plant, which is part of the West Kimberley Power Project that supplies energy to nearly 40,000 residents living in Broome, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek. 🔎 During this time, she has been involved in checking and replacing critical Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs) as a part of the Annual Safety Shutdown. ⚙ Catherine is also working on a simulation model for the carbon dioxide treatment and heating system to better optimise plant performance. 🌏 “I think the most enjoyable aspects of working onsite was working with and learning from the operators. This gave me a greater appreciation for the work they do every shift to safely operate EDL’s sites across the world,’’ she said. In the lead up to World Nature Conservation Day, on Sunday 28th July, EDL team members across the globe gathered to enjoy time outdoors and helping to preserve the natural environment. In North America, we planted trees at some of our sites in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Utah, with selected species including maples, apple and pear, spruce pine and even a few cacti. In Perth, we were guided by Trillion Trees Australia and planted native seedlings at Guildford Meadow on the Swan River where an old farming area is being rehabilitated back to riparian vegetation. And in Brisbane, we joined the Oxley Creek Catchment Association to plant hundreds of native seedlings in a vegetation rehabilitation area. Species planted included Acacia, Casuarina and Eucalyptus. As a global provider of sustainable distributed energy, EDL is proud to be part of the broader solution and we loved these opportunities to get really hands on with our conservation efforts. #WorldNatureConservationDay #Sustainabilty
