Our team have recently been working onsite at a beautiful small beach near Batemans Bay, NSW, where a 2022 landslide and subsequent slope stabilisation reshaped the landscape. The shallow translational landslide on a steep slope backing the beach damaged the backyards of several properties, and it’s fascinating to see how three neighboring homeowners have approached slope stabilisation in different ways. This impressive ten-storey hotel, with a four-level basement reaching approximately 15 meters deep, intersects the groundwater table. To ensure safe and efficient construction, our team has installed groundwater data loggers to monitor water level fluctuations and inclinometers to measure shoring wall deflections. We’re also conducting continuous vibration monitoring to protect nearby structures, all in accordance with our comprehensive Geotechnical Instrumentation Management Plan.
