This is a simple and effective laboratory-scale test used to simulate our Jameson Cell flotation technology in the flowsheet. Glencore Technology will be providing South32’s Hermosa with a Jameson Concentrator for its lead zinc flowsheet. This Jameson Concentrator will be the second installed in North America. ”The operation of a Jameson Concentrator needs very few people and it’s easy to operate. It reduces hazardous tasks because it avoids lifting, confined spaces and excessive numbers of people on site for maintenance. This is something that we know is important to South32,” says Glencore Technology’s Director of Growth and Solutions, Glenn Stieper. Because of Hermosa’s small footprint, 10 Jameson Cells replaced the possible alternative of about 22 ‘conventional’ flotation cells and only needed around 60% of the footprint. Jameson Cells will also deliver an energy saving of around 30% in the flotation section compared to the comparable tank cell circuit. That translates to a significant advantage in ongoing costs and carbon impact. Advanced detailed engineering and procurement is underway. Construction starts in 2025 and commissioning in 2027.
