  • Even though we were busy navigating the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred this International Women’s Day, we never miss the opportunity to highlight the amazing women at GCA! Meet Katie, one of our dedicated Aerodrome Reporting Officers at Gold Coast Airport - a role that ensures the safety and efficiency of our airfield, rain, hail, or shine. From conducting runway inspections to coordinating aircraft movements, her work is critical to keeping Gold Coast Airport moving.✈️ To all the incredible women at GCA, we appreciate everything you do - today and every day. 💜 #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction

  • 2010 ➡️ 2025 Can you believe it's been 15 years since Gold Coast Airport's first major redevelopment! In 2010, our $100m terminal expansion was officially opened to the public by the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, as the then Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. Since then Queensland Airports Limited has invested heavily in further improvements to cater to ongoing passenger growth. Most recently completing $500m in developing the precinct - including the $260m terminal expansion, airport hotel & domestic terminal retail refresh.

As a proud partner of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, we're excited to share the latest development in the Kroombit Tinkerfrog Recovery Program, which aims to repopulate sites where the species has gone extinct. Last month 27 captive bred Tinkerfrogs were released into the wild at Kroombit Tops National Park. Excitingly, whilst they were there, they located 3 male Tinkerfrogs calling at a rainforest site where they had not be recorded for almost 20 years! One was collected and will now become part of the breeding group at CWS Frog Lab, introducing new genetics to the program. Congratulations to our partners at CWS for this important leap forward in the program. 🐸

QAL has entered a landmark seven-year Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA) with CS Energy to transition its Gold Coast Airport and Townsville Airport operations to 100% renewable energy. The PPA, effective from 1 January 2025, marks a significant milestone in QAL’s Net Zero 2030 journey, addressing almost 90% of the organisation’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions. This important collaboration is another step in QAL’s ambition to reduce its environmental footprint. 🍃👣
