Today we announced a partnership with Viva Energy Australia to source Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for flights departing from Proserpine in Queensland from March to July this year. SAF is well-recognised as critical to the aviation sector’s long-term net zero by 2050 ambitions. The SAF sourced by Viva Energy will consist of Jet A1 and a 30-40% synthetic blend component made from waste and residue feedstocks. While there is much more to do to advance SAF production and use in Australia, including the economics that would support more widespread use, this collaboration marks a step forward in our sustainability strategy which recognises the long-term importance of alternative fuels to reduce carbon emissions. Yesterday we launched our inaugural Future Aviators program. As part of the day, we took students from six schools on a behind the scenes tour of our aircraft maintenance hangar, the SIM centre where our pilots train, and to the nerve centre of our business – the Integrated Operations Centre. The program forms part of our commitment to showcase the breadth of #aviation roles available within the industry, including some of the lesser-known technical roles that are a key part of any airline’s operation. A big thanks to Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools Program and the students and teachers from Aviation High School, Indooroopilly State High School, Bundamba State Secondary College, Benowa State High School, Miami State High School, Marsden State High School and who made it such a wonderful day. Last Friday, we welcomed Dave Emerson as the new Chief Executive Officer at Virgin Australia. Dave is a familiar face to many, having joined Virgin Australia in 2021 as our Chief Commercial Officer. Please join us in congratulating Dave!
Today marks my first official day as CEO of Virgin Australia, a role I step into with enormous pride and gratitude. It's a privilege to lead Virgin Australia at a time when our business is stronger than ever. We have become Australia's most loved and most trusted airline, consistently delivering industry-leading operational performance while maintaining a strong financial position. We've built a network of world-class industry partners that connect our customers globally, and grown our Velocity Frequent Flyer program to over 13 million members. And this June, we'll return to long-haul international flying, supported by our deeper Qatar Airways partnership, offering even greater value and choice to Australian travellers. But what truly makes Virgin Australia special is our 8,000 incredible, passionate team members whose unique flair and love for our airline sets us apart and ensures our continued success. Their commitment to delivering wonderful experiences for our guests every day is at the heart of everything we do. I am committed to building on the transformation journey that began under Jayne's outstanding leadership. Leading Virgin Australia into the next chapter of our story is a privilege, and my focus is clear: to build on the incredible momentum of the past four years, continue innovating the travel experience, and ensure we remain Australia's most loved and trusted airline. As we approach our 25th anniversary later this year, we have so much to celebrate and countless opportunities ahead. I look forward to connecting with many of you as we embark on our exciting future together. The sky isn't the limit - it's where we thrive. #VirginAustralia #Leadership #Aviation #NewBeginnings

We recently welcomed onboard 100 excited guests for our second 'Try Before You Fly' experience with Adelaide Airport Limited. Participants who might normally find air travel uncomfortable were introduced to the flying experience without having to take an actual flight. This included the processes of booking, checking in, security screening, boarding, and a simulated flight experience complete with aircraft sounds and Auslan interpretation. Thank you to Adelaide Airport and Virgin Australia Volunteers and Crew for once again delivering this important initiative. March 8 was International Women’s Day, and while we had big plans to celebrate, they were (temporarily) grounded thanks to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the wild weather. While some of our IWD activities will be rescheduled, one thing that won’t change is our appreciation for the incredible women who make Virgin Australia what it is. From the flight deck to the frontline and behind the scenes, today and every day, we celebrate you. ❤️💜 #IWD2025

Our partnership with Qatar Airways is taking off to a higher altitude following the Australian Government’s approval of the airline’s minority investment in Virgin Australia. The equity investment unlocks numerous benefits, including access to the scale and expertise of a leading global airline, strengthening our ability to compete domestically and internationally. For our customers, it means greater value and choice when travelling to Europe, the Middle East and Africa via Doha, with 28 new weekly Virgin Australia services taking off from the middle of this year, subject to IASC approval. The Australian visitor economy will receive an estimated $3 billion boost over the next five years as a result of additional inbound capacity. And for our people, this investment opens the door to secondment and promotional opportunities. Today is an important strategic milestone for Virgin Australia. We’re proud to share that Virgin Australia has been recognised as the most punctual and reliable major* Australian airline for January, following our top ranking in December 2024. This recognition comes from the latest data released today by the Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE). For 12 consecutive months, we’ve cancelled fewer flights than our major competitor, with December and January marking our best performance in two years.
