As we look back at our #AirportArchive to mark our centenary, we uncovered a piece of history that shows just how far we've come. On this day 100 years ago, a simple newspaper advertisement in the Daily Standard sought a single Groundsman for Brisbane Airport. Today, our dedicated team of grounds contractors maintain a sprawling 2,700-hectare precinct – that's 75 times larger than our original 36-hectare plot! It's a powerful reminder of how we've grown alongside our city, from modest agricultural land to a vital hub connecting our region to the rest of Australia and beyond. “The support I received from my leader and team while I was on parental leave made me feel both appreciated and empowered. I was encouraged to stay involved and assured that my career growth was still a priority” - Sally, Environment Manager. At Brisbane Airport Corporation, we are committed to supporting both the professional growth and personal milestones of our team. We believe that a flexible, inclusive environment not only fosters success but also enables individuals to thrive at every stage of their career. We are proud to offer a range of benefits to our team members who are growing their families, including: • 12 weeks paid parental leave and superannuation for unpaid parental leave • Return to work program for transitioning back to work • Generous leave options including 15 days personal leave and 3 well-being days • Discounted childcare fees at the Skygate precinct centre for parents with young children • Flexible work arrangements to support work-life balance One great example is the recent promotion of Sally Marsden to the role of Environmental Manager, achieved while on parental leave. “The flexibility offered by BAC particularly the option to return part-time during the first few months, has given me the confidence to balance both my career and family." Connecting #Brisbane with the world has had many perks – and this year we’re celebrating 100 years of welcoming famous faces to town. Today’s #FlashbackFriday comes from the 1950s and 60s when BNE welcomed The Beatles, Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Marina Duchess of Kent to beautiful Brisbane. But that’s not the only time we’ve had to practice our royal welcome. Over the past 100 years, we’ve given out plenty of royal waves, with Queen Elizabeth II returning to Brisbane in 1963, 1970, 1988 and 2011. For 100 years, Brisbane Airport has connected our city to the world, and welcomed celebrities to town – and we’ve got plenty more on the horizon. 📷Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II arriving at the old International Terminal in the 1970's Learn more about the history of Brisbane Airport: https://brnw.ch/21wQ3MT #BrisbaneAirport #BNE #History #Queensland

Exciting news! Singapore Airlines is expanding its services to Brisbane, increasing to 4 flights per day. This significant boost will enhance Queensland's connectivity, support the tourism industry, and benefit the state's exporters. The changes from June 16 will see the number of weekly services rise from 25 per week, to 28 per week, which is back to pre-pandemic levels for the first time in five years. The enhanced frequency from #SingaporeAirlines using Airbus A350-900 aircraft offers travellers greater flexibility, convenience, and seamless connectivity through #Brisbane. Passengers will be able to enjoy a fourth daily service from Brisbane that offers the fastest onward connections to London, Zurich, and Rome, along with improved connectivity to destinations such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Johannesburg. The new year delivers a new sustainability era for Brisbane Airport. From 1 January 2025, passengers travelling through Brisbane Airport will do so using 100% renewable backed electricity generation, as BNE becomes one of the first Australian airports to achieve Net Zero emissions (Scope 1 and 2). Brisbane Airport Corporation has reduced its scope 1 and 2 emissions by 97% through: ☀️Purchasing 100% renewable electricity generation from Stanwell Energy for Queensland based wind farm and solar energy ☀️Expanding onsite solar to 10MW 🔌Replacing 24 traditional internal combustion engine fleet vehicles with electric powered vehicles 🌳The remaining 3% of emissions have been offset through native bush regeneration projects in southwest Queensland via Tasman Environmental Markets (TEM).
