A message from Golf NSW Chairman Michael Medway to all those in the golf industry .....
To all those in the golf industry be it a player, an administrator, a green keeper, a professional (tour or clubland), a broadcaster, a volunteer, a club employee, basically anyone involved in the great sport please if you need help reach out. Following the tragic passing of Grayson Murray this week it is important as a sport that we take stock and realise our sport is one of the most demanding. Golf is great, but it is also.... Early starts -> referees and administrators are there before the players, Green keepers are the before all of us, Players are often last to leave or spend hours going back through shots, Club staff are on their feet for most of the day, Our Volunteers are there for most of the day for free and on their feet also, and Administrators aren't there to be abused at the end of play about course setup. Let us as an industry take the time to make sure for those at all levels involved in our sport we show kindness to those involved in the sport and ensure in Grayson's memory we never have anyone involved in our industry suffer alone and in silence. If you see someone who needs help ask them! If you need help, please ask for it. There are genuine people in our game that will help, and also please remember to utilise EAP service provided by governing bodies, clubs and tour associations. Please re post if you are involved in the industry and as industry leaders, lets get the message out there is always support available.
