It's not just care, it's HammondCare.

About us

HammondCare is an independent Christian charity specialising in aged care and dementia care, palliative care, pain, rehabilitation, older persons' mental health and younger onset dementia. Regarded as one of Australia’s most innovative health and aged care providers, HammondCare offers hospital care, residential care, dementia advisory services, and community support services across Australia and in the United Kingdom. HammondCare’s origins go back to 1932 when Anglican Archdeacon R B S Hammond provided homes for inner-city families in Sydney facing eviction during the Depression. He used his own superannuation funds to finance and create a 'rent to purchase' scheme in the area now known as Hammondville near Liverpool. HammondCare continues to pursue this mission today and our passion is improving quality of life for people in need. We serve people with complex health or aged care needs, regardless of their circumstances. Helping young people with special needs to thrive - one coffee at a time. The Plant Room Café at HammondCare Hammondville recently opened, creating opportunities for people with special needs to gain experience in meaningful employment. Under the guidance of hatted chef lorenzo pagnan, supported workers proudly serve barista coffee and fresh food, while also building connections with Hammondville residents and the independent living community. A huge thank you to The Disability Trust and everyone who made this possible—and to A Current Affair for featuring this heartwarming story last night!

  • HammondCare Caulfield celebrated the opening of its new chapel yesterday, welcoming residents, families, volunteers, and special guests. The vision for the chapel began with Pastoral Care Manager Joanne Jarlett, who identified the need within the community. “Caulfield needed an intentional space where people could feel safe to share and be supported,” she said. The Ormond Ladies Choir sang hymns of praise, followed by words from CEO Andrew Thorburn, who described the chapel as a place of community, love, and peace where "all are welcome." He also acknowledged the residents and their families as our shared mission, passion, and reason for being. Find our more about HammondCare Caulfield: https://hubs.li/Q038wTLP0

  • We love this personalised breakfast for Con, one of the residents at Linden Cottage in Hammondville. When Con began losing interest in eating breakfast, HammondCare team member Gerry looked for ways to encourage him. Gerry shares: “When I read Con’s history, I learned that he sailed a lot when he was younger. I talked to him about how he would have needed a decent breakfast back then.” But Gerry didn’t stop there. He wrote Con’s name in tomato sauce on his specially cooked omelette and added a garnish to the plate. Now, thanks to Gerry’s care, Con’s mornings feel that little bit more special.
