Growing older isn’t about fading into the background—it’s about living fully, laughing loudly, and proving the world wrong. Unashamedly Old… But Won’t Be Told captures the perspectives of 14 Anglicare Sydney residents as they challenge outdated beliefs about ageing. Produced in consultation with acclaimed Australian documentarian Kirk Docker, known for ABC’s You Can’t Ask That, the film dives into stories of romance, technology, and the everyday joys of life. With 43% of older Australians facing discrimination, it’s time to change the narrative. Watch the trailer and be inspired. 🎥 Watch the full documentary: hubs.la/Q03cFjQs0 #anglicaresydney #unashamedlyold #wooloowareshores #retirementliving #ageingpositively #seniorsliving Melissa Wei Ruth Hendy Nathan Rodrigues Jessica Taulaga Megan Mapp Liza F. Last week, Anglicare brought together 120 passionate community leaders and philanthropists from across the Northern Beaches and North Shore for a special event focused on supporting families recovering from domestic violence. Our speakers, Anglicare General Manager for Relationships and Wellbeing Sarah Van Bentum, Sydney Anglican Archdeacon Kara Hartley, and Anglicare CEO Simon Miller delivered powerful insights on the vital collaboration between churches and Anglicare in addressing domestic and family violence in our local communities. The event emphasised organisational partnerships, and they ways each of us as individuals can create meaningful change through awareness, support, and action. Thank you to Anglicare board member Peter Hicks for your initiative and leadership in hosting this event and for all who attended and contributed to this important conversation. At Anglicare, we believe that by working together, we can build stronger, safer communities for all. #strongertogether #communitysupport #enddv #anglicaresydney #socialimpact #communitypartnership Veronika Peters Michael Laverty Savin Prasad Kylie Rea

A Heartfelt Celebration of Women’s Impact 💚 Meredith Donkin, Foster Care Relationship Lead visited the community of Woodberry Village in Winston Hills to highlight the pivotal role women play in foster care, both as carers and as supporters. Meredith spoke at the village’s International Women’s Day High Tea event, where she shared her personal and professional experiences in foster care. “One of the most important elements of foster care recruitment is telling the stories of children, so their need is not hidden, and their stories are shared far and wide,” she explained. Her heartfelt speech left the attendees deeply moved and inspired, providing a powerful reminder of the compassionate services Anglicare offers beyond the walls of the village. “Meredith’s story is a great reminder of Anglicare’s compassionate services beyond our village and the significant impact these services have in the community,” said Chris Thomas, Village Manager. One special guest at the event was Shirley (pictured), a remarkable woman who has lived at Woodberry for an incredible 39 years and is turning 95 this year! Shirley showcased some of the beautiful jackets she hand-knits for premature and stillborn babies in hospitals, highlighting her unwavering compassion and dedication to others. The day was a true celebration of women, community, and the crucial need for foster care. The message about the importance of foster care resonated with all, leaving everyone inspired and reminded of the incredible impact they can have in making a difference 💚 Meredith Donkin Joanne Meyer Chris Thomas #internationalwomensday #iwd2025 #fostercare #seniorscommunities #anglicaresydney

We are pleased to announce the appointment of former NSW Minister, The Hon. Rob Stokes, in a newly created role, heading up Anglicare’s Housing business unit. As Group Executive - Housing, Rob will lead the growth and strategic direction of Anglicare’s work providing more safe and affordable homes for those most at risk of homelessness. Anglicare CEO, Simon Miller says “The cost-of-living and housing crisis is one of the greatest challenges facing Australians today. Our research shows only one in 500 homes in Sydney is affordable for someone on income support. Now is the time for non-profits, governments, and developers to step up and do more. “We are not only expanding our housing footprint — we are strengthening our voice for those who need a home. With Rob leading our Housing business unit, Anglicare is well-positioned to drive advocacy, innovation and scalable solutions that will make a lasting difference in people’s lives.” We look forward to welcoming Rob when he joins on 23 June. #housing #affordablehousing #housingcrisis

Anglicare Sydney has received additional funding to expand our Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) as part of a broader $245.6 million Government initiative to combat domestic and family violence in New South Wales. This funding allows us to extend the program in Nowra and Ulladulla, in addition to Parramatta. The goal of the program is to create safety for women and children by working with men who use, or have used violence in their relationships. We want to hold men accountable for using violence in their relationships, while supporting the change necessary for them to become the best partners and fathers they can be. Anglicare Sydney has been delivering evidence based, Men’s Behaviour Change Programs since 2016, originally funded through the Department Social Services and more recently Department of Communities and Justice. We sincerely thank the NSW Government for their crucial support in making this vital investment towards the safety of women and children. Together, we can create lasting change. #MBCP #anglicaresydney #domesticviolenceprevention #nswgovernment #communitysupport #makingadifference Sarah Van Bentum Naomi Dear NSW Department of Communities and Justice Department of Social Services (DSS)

🍾 A New Dining Experience is Coming! We're bringing a first-of-its-kind waterfront dining experience to Woolooware Shores by Anglicare. Heirloom, Sydney’s first-ever waterfront restaurant within a seniors living community, is a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant set to open in late 2025 and will be a place where food, connection and community come together, right in the heart of the thriving seniors living community. Today’s sod-turning ceremony marked the milestone, attended by Anglicare CEO Simon Miller, project leaders from Meridian, DKO and Willow Frank, and Federal MP Simon Kennedy. "The inspiration for Heirloom comes from the principles of the ‘Blue Zones’ – the geographical locations where people live longer and happier lives. Those core principles centre on eating well ... taking time to connect with family, friends and the community; being surrounded by beautiful views and landscapes; and being grounded by a positive outlook and connection to one’s faith," - Simon Miller, Anglicare CEO Read all about it here: https://hubs.la/Q037sVyn0 #anglicaresydney #heirloomrestaurant #wooloowareshores #retirementliving Simon Miller Simon Kennedy Meridian Construction Services Pty Ltd DKO Architecture Willow Frank Laurie Boxwell (GAICD) Liza F.
