Redefining the economics of green hydrogen.

About us

Our mission is to accelerate the world’s shift away from fossil fuels to green hydrogen by delivering the world’s best electrolyser. Hysata is developing a new type of hydrogen electrolyser. Our technology has the potential to significantly shift the economics of green hydrogen production, bringing $2/kg green hydrogen within reach, and accelerating the global transition to net zero emissions. Electrolysers use electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, and are the key technology for producing green hydrogen. Green hydrogen is widely acknowledged to be a crucial part of reaching net zero emissions globally, with the potential to meet up to 20% of energy demand in a net zero global economy. The Hysata electrolyser is based on breakthrough Australian technology developed by a team from the University of Wollongong’s ARC Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science, led by chemical catalysis and characterisation expert Professor Gerry Swiegers. We officially launched in June 2021, with $5 million in seed funding led by IP Group, with support from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).

“Our electrolyser technology will allow us to deliver hydrogen at an efficiency, cost and scale that will make hydrogen production practical and broadly applicable across industries and economies around the world.”   Hysata’s Chief Commercial Officer Daniel Tas Sandermann recently presented at Ecosummit Berlin, a forum connecting investors with companies accelerating decarbonisation technologies.   Speaking to the audience about how our breakthrough capillary action is inspired by nature, Daniel shared some insights on our technological advancements to date and the transformative nature of Hysata’s ultra-efficient electrolyser.   Watch Daniel’s presentation here: https://lnkd.in/gfFqZHg5   #GreenHydrogen #EfficiencyWins

This week is Brain Injury Awareness Week (BIAW), an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness of brain injuries.   This year’s BIAW theme is ‘What’s your connection?’, an especially relevant theme for Hysata as we celebrate the inspiring story of our very own Head of Intellectual Property Sarah Herbert.   In 2002, Sarah sustained a severe traumatic brain injury in a car accident. Through the support of her community, she overcame her injuries and went on to pursue a completely new career in law.   Over 20 years on, Sarah is an experienced patent lawyer and an integral part of the Hysata team, demonstrating determination and strength in everything she does.   Thank you Sarah, for sharing your story!   Read more about Sarah’s story here: https://lnkd.in/gXaeuGTB

Throwback to the opening of our electrolyser manufacturing facility in Port Kembla held one year ago!   The Hysata puffer jackets were out in full force on this cold, rainy wintery day. But that didn’t dampen the celebration with Minister for Climate Change and Energy Hon Chris Bowen MP officially opening the doors of our state-of-the art 8,500 sqm facility in our iconic beachside location at Port Kembla.   Since that day, we have doubled the size of our team, raised a staggering U$111.3 million Series B, been recognised by numerous awards including by the COP28 UAE Presidency, and hosted several local and international VIPs.   The momentum of the past year is powering us forward faster than ever and we’re excited by what we can achieve over the next 12 months.   #GreenHydrogen #EfficiencyWins

Earlier this week, Hysata exhibited at the University of Wollongong's STEM and Health Careers Expo. The Hysata stand was buzzing with excitement about the opportunities in the local electrolyser industry – as well as the free doughnuts.   Hysata's Leanne Isabella facilitated a women in STEM panel with Julia Ciarlini Junger Soares sharing her own experience in the industry as a Research and Development Engineer at Hysata along with Kassandra Dallas and Dr Yun Bai. The panel supported female STEM students by providing them with career development insights and showcasing the diverse post-graduation opportunities. We remain committed to nurturing the remarkable talent emerging from the Illawarra region, particularly from the University of Wollongong, and eagerly anticipate next year's expo!   #GreenHydrogen #EfficencyWins

Hysata recently submitted a response to the Senate Standing Committee on Economics regarding the Future Made in Australia 2024 Bill. Our submission outlines the critical role that electrolysers play in a Future Made in Australia, and what policy will be needed to cement this multi-billion dollar industry in Australia. Quick snapshot of our recommendations: 1. Include hydrogen electrolysers in the “clean energy manufacturing” priority sector under the National Interest Framework 2. Provide direct domestic manufacturing support for electrolysers 3. Incentivise proportional use of domestically developed or manufactured goods in Australian clean energy and manufacturing projects that benefit from government policies Read our full submission here: https://lnkd.in/gH6SdnVv #greenhydrogen #efficiencywins
