Imagine having 5 separate radio networks to manage emergencies…this was the case in Tasmania. But thanks to TasGRN, this is a thing of the past, with all Tasmanian Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Ambulance and SES), Land Managers and Power Authorities now on a single radio network. A richly deserved winner of the Technology Platform category at the 2024 iAwards. TasGRN provides a single fully encrypted P25 Digital Trunked Radio network and covers 75% of Tasmania. It was built by Telstra in close collaboration with Motorola solutions and the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management. Did you know that 530 million 10¢ containers go to waste each year in WA? That's what prompted Containers for Change (WARRRL) to develop an on-demand pick-up service for residential and commercial customers – and this innovation won the Sustainability & Environmental category at the 2024 iAwards. Containers for Change Collect has already made a significant environmental and economic impact; 6 million containers were collected in just four months, and $600,000 returned to the community amid a cost-of-living crisis. Thank you to our wonderful category sponsor Lenovo, and its Country General Manager Silke Barlow for presenting the Award at the National Ceremony in SkyCity, Adelaide. #iAwards #innovation #AIIA

It was amazing to hear how Inspiration Award winner Chain-FS can help empower domestic violence victims to escape violence and rebuild their lives. Developed by Nansen Digital Forensic, Chain-FS is being piloted by four domestic violence support agencies in NSW and Victoria. It uses a blend of blockchain, cloud and smart contract technologies to create a vendor agnostic cost-effective, immutable, trust-less storage system. This can help domestic violence victims to break free from violence without the constant threat of critical data theft, alteration, or destruction, which often hinders their escape. Thank you to the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, which is also our Awards Partner, for sponsoring the iAwards 2024 Inspiration Award and shining a light on technologies that help make vulnerable people safer. #iAwards #AIIA #innovation
