We are beaming from our recent attendance at the Australian Acoustical Society: Acoustics in the Sun Conference in sunny Gold Coast. Our Senior Associate Acoustic Engineer, Tom Krikke spoke and led a Technical Talk Tour focusing on his first-hand experience with Sydney Metro commissions, specifically Assurance and Integration Management for metro stations from the client-side, providing invaluable insight and lessons learnt from his late nights spent witness-testing during the commissioning stages of the projects. Our Senior Acoustic Engineer, Shahrokh Sepehrirahnama spoke about how the acoustic guideline for public educational spaces in NSW can be improved, based on a comparative assessment against other relevant state and overseas guidelines. This paper pursues to open a discussion between all relevant parties to provide a better acoustic environment for educational spaces. We are proud to have contributed to such a stellar event and already looking forward to next year’s. #AustralianAcousticalSociety #acoustic #JHAengineers #JHAbrisbane #JHAsydney

Neoscape | Projects – 185 Wharf St, Brisbane Following our appointment by Cbus Property as the 185 Wharf St Project Manager in March 2023, we've been collaborating closely through design development, construction documentation and the tender phase to bring the teams’ vision to life. This vision: to reinvent the concept of a classic family home in Brisbane’s up-and-coming Spring Hill with the introduction of the 185 Wharf St subtropical oasis. Designed by Rothelowman, with construction now underway with Hutchinson Builders, the project is progressing well, with piling and bulk excavation underway, and the four basement levels of car parking taking shape. With wellness and sustainability at the forefront, and crafted with families in mind, unique design integrations and features have been incorporated to create 125 premium residences across 30 levels. - The amenities are tailored to the needs of modern families: a dedicated kids’ play space, outdoor dining areas, dog off-leash area, dedicated work-from-home space, bike storage and workshop, along with a 20-metre pool, spa, sauna and gym. - Setting new standards in sustainability, the development is targeting a 5 Star Green Star Buildings v1 rating representing Australian excellence in better, healthier, and more responsible buildings. - With high-thermal performance, and all-electric residences powered by onsite and offsite renewable energy, residences have been designed for the future, ensuring families enjoy a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable living environment. We are thrilled to be on this journey with Cbus Property and look forward to delivering this iconic development. #youwantusonyourteam #exceptionalexperiences Andrew Potter Michelle Fitzgerald Robert Kern | Rider Levett Bucknall RLB Colin Brien Anna Wong | Alexander Burridge Fletcher Cole Matthew Tencate Melanie Adler | Jack Hutchinson Scott Hutchinson John Berlese Leigh Krebs | Urbis Ben Lyons | JHA Consulting Engineers James Farrah | Mark Nathan Rebecca Osterman Bob Newberry Kate Perry

JHA, represented by Garry Luu and Lawrence Yu, had a great time at the 2024 Sustainability Roundtable with Health Infrastructure last Friday. The session, led by Nicky Seaby and supported by Sarah Moore, Jenai McKibbin, and Myly Truong from HINSW, brought together a fantastic group of industry specialists, including Matt Williams, Stefan Takac, Rebecca Dracup, Mary Casey, Mike Matthews-Stuart, and Matt Pontin. HINSW is currently updating Design Guidance Note DGN058 to better align with government policy and improve sustainability outcomes. Their proactive approach in seeking industry feedback and openness to suggestions has been refreshing. The discussions focused on key themes like standardisation, decarbonisation policy, and driving innovation in both construction and governance processes. It wasn’t just about big-picture sustainability goals—we delved into real-world, practical topics like the assurance process and buildability challenges. A key takeaway? There’s definitely room for more collaboration across the industry. Breaking down silos and working together is the best way to drive meaningful progress alongside the technological and process advancements the industry is continually developing. JHA is excited to be part of the next phase of the review and see how we can all contribute to shaping better, more sustainable outcomes for the future. #HealthInfrastructure #Decarbonisation #Sustainability #Collaboration #Buildability

On a warm morning on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), a small group gathered to launch the Quandamooka Arts and Culture Centre (QUAMPI) for the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC). Nestled between the beach and the bush, the site came to life as dancers from Yulu Burri Ba welcomed visitors - offering a taste of the talent that will soon be celebrated at this world-class venue. "QUAMPI is a community space, a cultural space and a public offering all responding to place. A strong sense of community welcome and ownership has been a critical component of the design," COX Director, Richard Coulson “It’s been a tremendous honour to work together with Quandamooka Elders and community members since the project began seven years ago. They've been incredibly generous in sharing their knowledge of people, place, and culture,” says COX Associate Director, Ali Farmer. In honour of R U OK Day, we’ve been dedicating this week to mental health and connection. It has been a time to connect with colleagues and friends to check in and support each other. Every conversation could make a difference in someone’s life. Let’s make it a habit to ask, listen, and be there for one another, not just this week, but every day. #RUOKWeek #Support #Community #MentalHealthAwareness #JHAsyndey #JHAengineers
