We are thrilled to be part of the new student accommodation project at the University of Melbourne's Dookie Campus in Yorta Yorta Country! Collaborating with Modscape and other consultants, supported by the Victorian Government, this project beautifully reflects the campus's agricultural roots while enhancing student life. The ACOR team is proud to contribute and provide our service in civil engineering and building services (fire protection, electrical and hydraulics) to such an impactful development!
Thirty minutes outside Shepparton on Yorta Yorta Country, surrounded by rolling farmland, sits JCB’s recently completed new student accommodation at the University of Melbourne’s Dookie Campus. Working closely with head contractor Modscape, the highly efficient two-storey design was prefabricated offsite and utilised modular construction methods to meet a fast-tracked program, enabling the college to quickly meet increased accommodation needs with an additional 85 bedrooms. The project, a joint investment by the Victorian Government and the University of Melbourne, provides a comfortable and welcoming residential environment for students, staff and visitors of the college. Inspired by the campus’ agricultural roots, the design pays homage to the rural vernacular with its clean, vertical lines expressed throughout the external façade. Each of the ensuite units overlook a communal courtyard, while an expansive communal kitchen and living area creates a social heart, with large windows framing views of the surrounding trees. Supporting the University’s growing regional presence, the new accommodation offers a modern living experience in a rural setting and enhances Dookie's role as a hub for agricultural education and research.
