BRISBANE: Our Queensland team has won an Excellence in Construction Award at the 2024 Queensland Master Builders Awards for their work on Catherine's House. The project, which transformed the historic Mater Convent into Queensland's largest perinatal mental health facility, took home the award in the category Commercial Renovation and Refurbishment $15M-$30M. This project holds a special place in our hearts, combining heritage preservation with modern healthcare needs to create a nurturing space for mothers and their babies. From restored stained-glass windows to purpose-built mother-baby suites, every detail was considered and delivered with care. Thank you to our incredible team, partners, and the Master Builders Association for this recognition. Together, we're building positive community outcomes. Royal seal of approval! His Majesty King Charles III visited our groundbreaking sustainable social housing project in Glebe this week, where he met participants of the Get Into Construction programme and unveiled a plaque to commemorate the occasion. His Majesty was joined by several project stakeholders as well as Julie Bishop, Chair of The King's Trust Australia, Rose Jackson , NSW Minister for Housing, the Premier of NSW, Chris Minns and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. As we toured the site, there was lots to talk about! Community: The Cowper Street Development will become home to a community of around 130 new social housing residents and will incorporate public art being created in consultation with the local Indigenous community by Indigenous artist, Dennis Golding. Careers in construction: Get Into Construction is a four-week programme that helps young people gain a foothold in the thriving construction industry. Designed to address the growing demand for skilled labour in the construction sector while offering a pathway for young people to kickstart their careers, it is run in collaboration between The King's Trust Australia, First Choice Apprentices and Kane Constructions Pty Ltd. Sustainability: The development features rooftop gardens, solar power, on-site bike-parking, and water retention to achieve the highest sustainability rating possible being 6 Star Green Star. A key element of the project is the use of 2,590m3 of locally grown pine in the two 8-storey and one 3-storey cross-laminated timber (‘CLT’) structures. The Kane Team was excited at the opportunity to bring attention to all the great things happening at the Cowper Street Development. We’re looking forward to seeing 75 new homes being occupied in 2025. MELBOURNE: On Sunday, 6th October, four dedicated members of our Victorian team, Callum Foat, Andrew Winn, Iain Colliver, David Drysdale and Tom Cui, took on the challenge of the 100km United Energy Around the Bay bike ride! This iconic cycling festival brought together thousands of riders to raise vital funds for Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision, a charity dedicated to funding research into bone marrow failure syndromes and providing critical support for patients and their families. The scenic route, from Albert Park across the West Gate Bridge to Mordialloc and back, tested the stamina of our team with a 751m elevation gain, but the beautiful coastal views and sense of purpose kept them going strong! A big congratulations to Callum, Andy, Iain, and Tom for representing Kane and making a positive impact both on and off the road. We're delivering 40 new social homes at Basin Pocket for older Queenslanders. These new homes will help seniors downsize as they get older and free up larger homes for families. We now have more that $1 billion of social and affordable housing underway, so more Queenslanders have a safe place to call home. We're building new homes from Cape York to the Gold Coast. Our Homes for Queenslanders Plan will deliver more than 1 million extra homes by 2046 - including 53,500 new social homes. We're doing what matters. Meaghan Scanlon MP

MELBOURNE: Kane Constructions is thrilled to announce that our Project Manager, Darcy Gumley, and his team have been honoured with the 2024 National Professional Excellence Award (Commercial Construction $60M+) at the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) National Building Awards. The award recognises the outstanding work on the Northern Private Hospital Development Stage 1 project. Kane’s journey with the Northern Private Hospital began in 2018 under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract, where we helped shape the project brief and schematic design. In 2021, we secured the main works contract, with construction commencing in December. Thanks to Darcy’s leadership and the dedication of the project team, the state-of-the-art medical facility was completed two months ahead of schedule in August 2023. The AIB Awards are prestigious because they focus on how a project is built, not just what is built, with peer recognition highlighting the excellence of the project’s execution. Kane Constructions is proud of Darcy and the entire team for their exemplary work, dedication, and ability to deliver complex projects ahead of schedule. We thank our clients, partners, and stakeholders for their continued support and look forward to more exciting projects in the future.
