It’s Christmas in July … just minus the tinsel and fairy lights! This piece of equipment known as an XTree or Christmas tree, is currently undergoing its final set of survey checks by our Dimensional Control team. These checks are a vital piece of the puzzle for many oil and gas projects and ensures a high degree of accuracy is available. A high-resolution laser scan of the tree had been conducted to provide our client with an accurate 3D point cloud model. These geospatial insights ensures that every dimension is correct and exactly to design, as the pipework connecting the Vertical Hub on the XTree will need to perfectly align with other large structures’ hubs on the bottom of the ocean.
