Did you know that on any given night, more than 100,000 people in Australia are experiencing homelessness? As the housing crisis deepens, South Australian councils can now access a new tool to help them better manage and prevent homelessness in their communities. The Ending homelessness: a toolkit for local government provides evidence-based guidance for councils to navigate and respond to this complex issue. As the weather begins to warm, so too does local government planning around bushfire prevention. Thanks to the South Australian Country Fire Service for their work with local government and councils across the state at today’s Fire Prevention Officer reaccreditation. This vital knowledge sharing about the impacts of invasive species, Buffel grass and how to reduce fire hazards in council areas, will help us continue to keep our communities safe. 

🌿 Helping councils achieve net zero 🌿 This week, our policy team delivered the Local Government Net Zero Accelerate Program webinar to council staff working in the climate space. This important information session offered insights into the Net Zero program, which will equip councils with the tools and resources needed to lower their emissions and establish Net Zero plans – all helping meet South Australia’s net zero target.
