Businesses and buildings across the Good Work portfolio took a break to make bubble tea, participate in coffee cupping, learn how to make empanadas and check in with one another this week for #ruokday. Focusing on daily relationships and partnering with local businesses can profoundly impact connections beyond one-day events. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our incredible partners who initiated meaningful conversations by sharing their family recipes, travel stories, and passion for their craft. We are especially grateful to EG Funds, Marprop Real Estate Investors, CBRE and Knight Frank for embracing the Good Work program in their buildings. Every day is the right day for a conversation. We are also grateful to the Community Led Safe Space Inner West Sydney who host monthly coffee and conversation opportunities in our Sydney buildings. Meet Little BIG Foundation's Chairman, George! Since joining the Little BIG Foundation in May 2021, George Miltenyi has become pivotal in fostering a sense of true community within urban spaces. His passion for collaboration and urban renewal is not just contagious; it's inspiring. George's dedication to meeting residents, collaborating with volunteers, establishing community amongst office workers, and planning activities that surprise and delight is a true testament to his leadership. Meet Wei-Yee! Back when COVID had us stuck at home, Wei-Yee started offering 15-minute online yoga classes to the locals as a way to reduce stress and manage anxiety. As fate would have it, the Little BIG House opened on her doorstep, and she became our first Host and mainstay yoga teacher at the Little BIG House. Currently, Wei-Yee holds two yoga classes weekly at the Little BIG House and a free outdoor session. She also pitches in for anything and everything happening in the community. Wei-Yee says she loves the Little BIG House’s “cleverly designed space that can be used by people of all ages and abilities and that it accommodates many different types of events. I also love that its core mission is to reduce loneliness at a time when loneliness in big cities is at an all-time high.” As one of the first believers in the Little BIG House, this Host is very dear to us all. Little BIG CEO, Sarah Mathews, was recently asked to contribute to Institutional Real Estate Asia Pacific's discussion on activating amenities for social change. "Without thoughtful activation and genuine community engagement, amenities risk becoming mere placeholders rather than meaningful contributions to society. Places where people feel a sense of belonging and where less loneliness occurs are proving to be more fruitful in meeting both ESG and financial targets" Sarah said.
