🚀 South Australian space sector reaches new heights! 🌌 We’re excited that Kanyini, a South Australian owned and manufactured satellite, has successfully launched aboard a SpaceX rocket from the United States! 🎉 Kanyini marks a historic milestone as the first state government-funded satellite in Australia. Built at Lot Fourteen by a local team from SmartSat CRC, South Australian Space Industry Centre, Inovor Technologies, and Myriota — this $6.5 million mission is driving the growth of our state’s hi-tech space sector, creating jobs and developing vital space capabilities. With Kanyini now in orbit, the next big step is establishing stable communications through the operations centre at Inovor Technologies at Lot Fourteen. Once fully commissioned, Kanyini will provide critical space data that will be invaluable for government and research institutions, particularly in areas like sustainability and climate impact analysis. 🌟 Last night, we had the privilege of hosting Anousheh Ansari, CEO of XPRIZE, at Stone & Chalk Startup Hub. Anousheh, an engineer, entrepreneur and space explorer, made history as the first Muslim woman and fourth private space traveller in 2006. 🚀 She captivated a full house with insights on the transformative impact of XPRIZE competitions and shared her incredible journey in space. Anousheh also highlighted her entrepreneurial achievements, including co-founding Telecom Technologies Inc. and Prodea Systems—one of Inc. Magazine’s 500 fastest-growing companies. The event was hosted by Dr Catherine Ball, futurist and angel investor, who led a discussion on deep tech, quantum innovation, startups, climate, energy, health, and space exploration.
