Tyron is a seasoned emergency management leader with a strong fire operation, incident management, and volunteer coordination background. He joins RFSQ from his role as Operations Manager—East Kimberley with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation, and Attractions, where he oversaw fire mitigation, multi-agency emergency response, and strategic land management across vast and remote regions. With an extensive fire and emergency services career, Tyron has held key leadership positions within the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (WA). He has managed large-scale bushfire responses, led multi-agency disaster coordination efforts, and worked closely with volunteer brigades, local governments, and Indigenous ranger groups to strengthen community resilience. In his new role as Deputy Chief Officer—North Queensland, Tyron will oversee regional operations, lead volunteer engagement, operational readiness, and strategic risk mitigation. It is part of a commitment to supporting victims of sexual violence. It will identify and review systemic issues relating to the reporting, investigating and prosecution of sexual offences in Queensland. Established under the Victims’ Commissioner and Sexual Violence Review Board Act 2024, the Sexual Violence Review Board’s primary objective is to enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness of the criminal justice system in addressing sexual violence, ensuring that victims' rights are upheld, and that justice is served in a timely and equitable manner. 𝗟𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝘄: ◆ A Productivity Commissioner ◆ Commissioner(s) 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 The Productivity Commissioner is an independent statutory officer responsible for managing and directing the QPC's activities and ensuring the board performs its functions and exercises its powers appropriately. The Productivity Commissioner is a full-time Executive Chair, combining the roles of Chair and CEO of QPC and undertakes five main activities: ◆ Chairing the QPC Board. ◆ Managing the QPC. ◆ Providing policy leadership to QPC staff. ◆ Leading and overseeing the QPC work program, including public inquiries. ◆ Representing the QPC publicly. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿(𝘀) A Commissioner is an independent statutory officer who is a member of the board of the QPC. A highly respected leader in rural fire management, John has dedicated over 16 years to RFSQ and the broader Queensland Fire Department and brings with him extensive experience in fire and emergency services, incident command, and volunteer engagement. Having held senior operational and strategic roles across the state as Assistant Chief Officer and Regional Manager, John has been a driving force in operational planning, risk management, and community-focused emergency response. Since stepping into the Acting Deputy Chief Officer role, John has led key strategic initiatives and implemented volunteer engagement programs that enhanced Queensland’s rural fire response capabilities. Through his leadership, John has strengthened regional response readiness, improved multi-agency coordination, and ensured better resource allocation across Southeast Queensland.
