Magnetite Mines was pleased to support University of Adelaide Honours Students in Architecture and Civil Engineering in their pursuit for sustainable building materials. The team demonstrated how iron ore mine tailings from the Razorback Project may be used in 3D concrete printing to replace up to 30% cement without compromising strength. Well done Jadd Ali, Sian Parker, Max White and Emma McLeay, for finding sustainable ways to reduce CO2 and reuse mine tailings at the same time. The development of a green iron export industry in Australia tops the list as the best remedy for declining balance of trade (read living standards), as Australia faces shrinking fossil fuel and low-grade iron ore exports in the years to come. 'The Lucky Country', and South Australia in particular, has massive renewable energy capacity and magnetite reserves to create green iron. What's missing is the awareness, collaboration and infrastructure funding needed to realise the opportunity before other regions take the cake and eat it too. Magnetite Mines is pleased to provide an update of activities and financial results for the quarter ending 30 September 2024. This quarter, the Company achieved several important milestones relating to the development of its flagship Razorback Iron Ore Project. Following the execution of a Heads of Agreement in July 2024, the Company progressed negotiations with potential joint venture and funding partner JFE Shoji Australia Pty Ltd. The two parties are targeting execution of binding Definitive Agreements in Q1 2025 in line with the Heads of Agreement. A milestone development during the period was the formation of the ‘Green Iron SA’ consortium, established to develop a new green iron industry in South Australia in alignment with the state government’s State Prosperity Plan and Green Iron & Steel Strategy. The Company’s Razorback Project is an essential enabler for green iron production. Led by Magnetite Mines, the consortium comprises established logistics operators and developers including Flinders Port Holdings Pty Limited (port) and Aurizon Bulk Logistics (rail), along with as respected engineering consultants GHD. The Razorback Project permitting and approvals process has been prioritised, with preparation of the Mining Lease Proposal (MLP) nearing completion. It is always exciting to visit our key partners in Korea and Japan and this week has been no exception. Minister Joe Szakacs and our CEO delegation from South Australia met with leading energy and steel companies over the last week in both countries to progress discussions on major decarbonisation projects. We are close to some exciting announcements that will drive further significant investments and create long term jobs across multiple sectors (including energy, infrastructure and housing) for our great State. I have an amazing team at Invest SA and we are committed to visiting these markets regularly to build the relationships and then facilitate the projects quickly and efficiently. Of course we still have much work to do but so far we have delivered $2.7 billion of investment into South Australia since we were established in 2022.
