We've now released our first consultation paper on the legislative reforms that will strengthen our regulatory powers (Bill No. 2), which is available to download from our Reform Hub: https://bit.ly/3YBoFhE in Word and Easy Read formats. The legislative reform has three focus areas: 👉 penalty framework and statutory requirements 👉 safeguarding measures 👉 information gathering powers. We'll be inviting your feedback shortly - we want to know what you think of the proposed changes and how we can help NDIS participants, providers and workers understand how it will impact them. No changes or transition to mandatory registration will occur before 1 July 2025. We want to know how you prefer to hear from us, so we can make sure we're providing information in the best way possible. We recently sent out a survey to all registered providers to get their opinions, and now we'd like to hear from unregistered providers and workers. This survey will only take a few minutes and will help us to improve how we share updates and resources with you. Please only complete the survey most relevant to your situation. 👉 Unregistered providers survey: https://bit.ly/4hyXpJm 👉 NDIS workers survey: https://bit.ly/4fzoJFs The surveys will close on 29th November. We’re changing the way we regulate the NDIS, to make it better for everyone. Our Regulatory Reform roadmap, which outlines the activities we have planned to support Government reform priorities over the next 12 months, is now available on our new ‘reform hub’ at https://bit.ly/3YBoFhE. This hub is designed to provide updates and information, and to support our public consultation program which will continue well into 2025. We’re committed to consulting in a way that puts NDIS participants at the centre and prioritises groups that are likely to be most affected by regulatory reform. We’ll do this by providing a range of consultation options to support meaningful engagement. Our goal is to ensure these reforms deliver better quality services and safeguard NDIS participants. While changes are coming, please note that no changes to mandatory registration will occur earlier than 1 July 2025. Our Annual Report 2023/24 is now available to download from our website. We're proud to see the results of our continued efforts to tackle unscrupulous providers and safeguard participants, which include issuing a record $3.92 million in fines and penalties in the last financial year. While we know most providers do the right thing and strive to deliver quality supports and services to NDIS participants, fines, penalties and other compliance actions are sometimes necessary to stop some providers from doing the wrong thing. Read Minister Bill Shorten's media release, which includes a link to the report: https://bit.ly/3C5iJWP. The NDIS Code of Conduct is a set of rules that underpins the delivery of NDIS supports and services. NDIS participants should be aware of their rights under the Code, and all providers and workers need to have a good understanding of their obligations and responsibilities. To help make the Code of Conduct clear and easy to understand, we've published some downloadable resources that can be printed and shared with anyone delivering supports and services to NDIS participants. Download the resources now at https://bit.ly/3Auwmhl. Save this post so you can refer to it later! It also provides insight into the role of the Practice Quality division within the NDIS Commission and explains our approach to uplifting and regulating the quality and safety of behaviour support. Earlier this year our Contact Centre underwent a digital transformation, introducing a new Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology platform. This new system has significantly improved our call handling rates and allows people to also contact us via WebChat if phone or email is not their preferred communication method. Watch this short video to hear some of our Contact Centre team members talking about how the new system has improved the way they work.
