The Howlong Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) won the Excellence in Service Delivery award at the NSW Premier's Awards! Since 30 October 2023, this incredible team has been providing life-saving initial care to patients before paramedics arrive, thanks to a partnership between NSW Ambulance and the Howlong Community Progress Association. In a town of just 2,551 people, where a full-time paramedic station isn’t possible, the Howlong CERT ensures the community gets the emergency care it needs when they need it most. The Early Birds & Night Owls program has won in the Driving Public Sector Diversity category at the NSW Premier’s Awards for its incredible work in creating inclusive experiences for people with sensory sensitivities at the Australian Museum 🏆 This program creates a welcoming museum experience by offering sensory-friendly mornings for families and evening events for adults. Why it’s amazing: ✅ Developed in consultation with Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) and others. ✅ Features quiet spaces, lower noise, and clear signs to make visits stress-free. ✅ Over 2,200 people attended in 2022–2024, with many first-time visitors. ✅ Visitors love the welcoming staff and safe environment. ✅ The museum shares its knowledge to help others improve accessibility. Congrats to the Uptown District Acceleration Program team for winning the NSW Premier’s Award in the Building a Resilient Economy category! 🏆 This amazing program, led by the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, with help from the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport and Create NSW, has boosted Sydney’s nightlife by helping local businesses team up to create exciting and vibrant going-out areas. Here’s what they’ve achieved: ✨ 30 districts across Greater Sydney, involving over 150 businesses. ✨ $4.1 million in grants approved for creative local projects. ✨ Unique multicultural events like Blacktown’s First Nations arts festivals and Koreatown in Eastwood. ✨ Big increases in foot traffic and sales in local neighbourhoods. In 2024, the team behind the Stolen Generations records project won the Connecting Communities Award at the NSW Premier's Awards.   This collaborative effort between Museums of History NSW, Aboriginal Affairs NSW and NSW Department of Communities and Justice digitised 150 terabytes of resources, including 1.25 million images and 358,000 entries.   Their work is supporting the Stolen Generations Reparations Scheme and Family Records Service, enabling healing, truth-telling, and reparation claims.
