  • 🌟 Giving Back This Festive Season 🌟 This holiday season, our entire team came together for a meaningful cause — volunteering at our local Foodbank SA & NT. It was an incredible experience to join hands and support those in need, ensuring families and individuals in our community have the resources they need. At NTMEC we believe in making a positive impact, not just through our events, but also in the communities we serve. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together to spread kindness and care. A huge thank you to all our employees for your generosity, and Foodbank NT for allowing us to help make a difference! #GivingBack #CommunityImpact #Volunteering #FestiveSeason #Teamwork #MakingADifference

  • It’s been another spectacular year for Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC). In April we announced our biggest event yet – MXGP of Australia. This exciting global event will see the best motocross riders compete on a purpose-built track at Hidden Valley in September 2025. Superstar American rapper and singer, Macklemore, took to the stage, lighting up Mindil Beach and giving BASSINTHEGRASS festival goers a night to remember. Million Dollar Fish reached a milestone in Season 9, with the prized $1 million-dollar tagged barra reeled in – proof that Territory waters are as rewarding as they are iconic! Parrtjima – A Festival in Light, was recognised nationally and internationally for its impact and for championing the world’s oldest living culture. We saw the return of the Alice Springs Masters Games, bringing communities together for an incredible celebration of sport and friendship. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our events and to the dedicated individuals who helped make them incredible. Your passion and energy continue to make the Territory a truly unique place to celebrate. From all of us at NTMEC, we wish you a joyful festive season and look forward to another unforgettable year in 2025!

  • After 12 momentous years, the special partnership between the Northern Territory Government and Parramatta Eels will draw to a close, making 2025 the last game of the Territory Eels 💛💙 We want to thank them for the special bond they created with the NT rugby league community, and giving local fans and up-and-coming players the opportunity to witness top-tier rugby league on home turf. Having an National Rugby League game for more than a decade has contributed to the liveability of the NT and we look forward to exploring new opportunities for NRL team to play a home game in Darwin beyond 2025. Thank you, Parramatta Eels National Rugby League Club, for your dedication in bringing premiership level rugby league to the NT and giving so much to our community over the years – you have truly embraced the Territory spirit! • We’re thrilled to share that Northern Territory Major Events Company has been honoured with three prestigious awards at the national 2024 Australian Event Awards, which took place this week in Sydney. With 85 nominees in this year’s awards, winning not just one but three accolades is an incredible achievement and testament to the dedication and passion of our team, the Parrtjima Festival Reference Group, the local communities, and our partners. NT Major Events Company secured Best Tourism Event and Best Regional Event Awards for Parrtjima – A Festival in Light 2024, a stunning celebration of Aboriginal art, culture, and storytelling set against the ancient MacDonnell Ranges in Alice Springs. Additionally, we won the State or Territory Award, highlighting our commitment to delivering world-class events that showcase the unique beauty and cultural richness of the Territory. Parrtjima was also shortlisted in the Australian Event of the Year category. These awards reaffirm the significance of Parrtjima and the impact it has on the community. As the only Aboriginal light festival of its kind, Parrtjima plays a vital role in shining a light - literally - on Indigenous cultures, fostering connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, and creating a platform for sharing stories that have been passed down for generations. Beyond its cultural significance, Parrtjima continues to have a profound social and economic impact on the NT. The event attracted over 21,000 attendances in 2024, generating $9.42 million for the local economy and benefiting Alice Springs directly. This economic boost helps local businesses thrive, supports employment, and brings new opportunities to the region. In collaboration with community partners, Parrtjima also offers Indigenous youth and community members the opportunities to participate in the event. It’s especially heartening to see how the event has become a source of pride for both the Alice Springs community and the broader Territory. Independent research showed that 92.2% of attendees agreed that Parrtjima had a positive impact on the community, and more than 77% said the event enhanced their appreciation of Aboriginal art and culture. This reflects our shared vision of building a stronger, more connected community through art and cultural celebration. We’d like to thank the artists, performers and everyone involved from Indigenous communities for their generosity in sharing their cultures and stories. Also a shout out to creative partners Grumpy Sailor Creative and We Are Gather and of course to Festival Curator Rhoda Roberts and Traditional Owner Paul Ah Chee who have been an integral part of Parrtjima’s success over the years. On top of the Parrtjima accolades, we received recognition as a national nominee and state winner for Best Sporting Event for Darwin Triple Crown Supercars. Here’s to more transformative moments, and to continuing to connect people through unforgettable experiences!
