The face of hardship is always changing, and we have an important role to play in protecting and supporting customers when they need a helping hand. Our head of retail operations, Cameron Geason, shares some of the things we hear from both customers and financial counsellors that are important in the type of support we provide and how we provide it. #CustomerSupport #FinancialCounselling
About us
Origin is one of Australia's leading energy companies, exploring, generating and delivering energy to over 4 million customer accounts. Our purpose – getting energy right for our customers, communities and planet – drives everything we do. As Australia's largest energy retailer, we have an important role to play in providing electricity, natural gas, solar and LPG to Australian communities and work every day to make energy more affordable, more sustainable, smarter and easier for our customers. We are committed to leading the transition to a cleaner energy future and believe our company, and the energy industry more broadly, should be at the forefront of action to reduce carbon emissions. Origin was the first Australian company to set an emissions reduction target endorsed by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – aiming to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions by 2032, as we work towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Through the Origin Energy Foundation, we support programs that use education to help break the cycle of disadvantage and empower young Australians to reach their potential, contributing more than $27 million to support community organisations since 2010. Karen's been our customer for 24 years. Recently, she ran into a metering issue at her property, gave us a call and connected with Fred. Fred set to work getting the issue resolved, in the nick of time for shearing season, and now they've got a woolly unique connection 🐏 #CustomerStories

Australia is one of the top five data centre hubs in the world, with data centres set to contribute to as much as 8 per cent of the grid’s demand by 2030. James Magill, head of our Origin Zero team that supports large business customers, spoke to ABC’s The Business about how we are working with customers to manage some of the challenges and opportunities this presents. We have approved a $450 million investment to construct the second stage of the Eraring battery. Stage two adds a 240 MW / 1030 MWh four-hour duration grid-forming battery to the stage one development of a 460 MW / 1073 MWh two-hour duration battery which is already under construction. We look forward to bringing these batteries online to help us better manage variability in renewables supply and deliver reliable electricity to customers. Find out more:

We’ve installed a 2440kW solar system with Accolade Wines at their Berri Estates winery in South Australia. Through a solar power purchase agreement, the system was installed without any upfront costs to Accolade, with Origin owning and maintaining the system on their behalf. Allowing Accolade to harness the power of the sun to reduce their emissions and optimise their energy use and costs. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gmpKDrVb #SolarPower #SolarEnergy

As the upstream operator of Australia Pacific LNG, we're delighted to support Sculptures Out Back. Now in its fourth year, it has quickly become a south-west Queensland highlight and transformed Roma into the sculpture capital of the west, showcasing the region’s incredible talent and creativity. It's more than just an art competition — it brings out the vibrant spirit and cultural richness of our community. Check out the highlights from this year’s festival.

We’ve reached a key milestone for our large-scale battery project at Eraring Power Station, delivering a custom 210-tonne transformer to the site. The successful transportation of the transformer marked a significant logistical feat, covering nearly 60km from Mayfield Port to the Eraring Power Station. This was accomplished using two block trucks towing a 16-axle platform trailer, with an additional push truck at the rear for added support. Watch the journey in the video below. #EnergyStorage #Transformers

Our ambition is to play a pivotal role in the transition to cleaner energy, and wind power is at the heart of this transition. Accurate wind measurements are essential for planning successful wind farms, both onshore and offshore. Recently we installed meteorological masts, known as met masts, at our proposed Northern Tablelands Wind Farm Project site. These met masts, combined with other technologies, provide crucial data on wind speed, direction, and other vital weather parameters. This data is essential for perfecting our planning and making sure we harness the full potential of wind energy.
