Philanthropy Australia has warmly welcomed the delivery of historic reforms will boost community giving in Australia, with a new deductible gift recipient (DGR) category for community foundations recently commencing. Yesterday our Executive Director – Policy and Sector Development, Krystian Seibert, was pleased to join the Assistant Minister for Charities, the Hon Andrew Leigh MP, at an event celebrating this achievement. Speaking alongside the Assistant Minister and Ian Bird, CEO of Community Foundations Australia, Krystian highlighted why this is a game changing reform, removing barriers to giving and helping to achieve the Australian Government’s goal to double giving by 2030. The Snow family and their Snow Medical Research Foundation (Snow Medical) have recently announced a $50 million partnership with the University of Sydney to launch the Snow Vision Accelerator. It follows a record $100 million gift from the Khuda Family Foundation to the university earlier in February to increase diversity in the STEM sector. The Snow Medical commitment over 10 years is the largest single philanthropic investment in vision science in Australia.
