Congratulations to the seven Pilbara businesses sharing in more than $1.1 million in the 2024 Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants💰🎉 The diverse range of projects reflect the robust, thriving, and innovative work happening across the region- everything from the expansion of local dive business Pilbara Dive and Tours, to the development of Ngarliyarndu Bindirri Aboriginal Corporation’s work-ready programs for local indigenous youth. A big thank you to our hosts Lo's Café who will use their $110,000 grant to address a significant gap in the local hospitality market and create jobs and training opportunities in partnership with two local Aboriginal corporations. After touring Karratha with Kevin Michel MLA and dropping into former RED grant recipient’s business Pilbara Physiotherapy - which established the region’s first allied-health hub after receiving $250,000 last year- there’s no denying how much value this program is bringing to regional communities. Since the inception of this program, the WA Labor Government has invested more than $5.5 million across 49 locally-driven projects in the Pilbara, helping to build a better region for the local community. With a record $10 million on offer for Round 7 'Mega REDs', we are fostering regional development that is making meaningful change, creating real jobs and diversifying regional economies. We are really pleased to be working with the Port Hedland International Airport (PHIA), Regional Development Australia (Pilbara) and Commonwealth counterparts to restart international flights into the Pilbara. ✈ International flights are an important component of enhancing liveability in the region as well as improving competitiveness for international investment attraction, especially for new industries!
Bali = one step closer! ✈ 🌏 Let's talk Bali flights! If it was commercially viable, airlines would already be flying there. For nearly three years, we at Port Hedland International Airport have been working hard to make these flights a reality. Today, CEO Simon Taylor from Pilbara Development Commission, CEO Tony Simpson from Regional Development Australia (Pilbara) and CEO Dave Batic GAICD from Port Hedland International Airport met with Federal Government representatives from Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, and Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to discuss sustainable international services from Port Hedland. Thank you for your patience as we work diligently to bring back flights to Denpasar and other exciting destinations! ✈️🌍 Town of Port Hedland Australian Airports Association #PortHedlandInternationalAirport #PortHedland #Aviation #Internationalflights #newroutes #aviationdevelopment #Pilbara
