You might have seen the recent news about the LA based Village Roadshow Entertainment Group (VREG) filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the USA. For clarity, VREG is completely separate from the Australian based, Village Roadshow Group which was formed in 1954 and includes Village Roadshow Theme Parks, Roadshow Distributors, Roadshow Productions, Village Roadshow Studios and Village Cinemas and each continues to be market leaders in their sectors and highly profitable. Since 2017, the Village Roadshow Group has had no strategic, operational control, management oversight or financial responsibility for VREG. Further, Village Roadshow Group’s nearly 50 year relationship with Warner Bros remains as strong as ever and is not impacted. Any financial issues that VREG are having are completely separate to the Village Roadshow Group. For more details and a comment from our CEO Clark Kirby see the attached.

Last week, we celebrated the Melbourne premiere of Better Man at the iconic Crown Village Cinemas! The evening was a star-studded affair, with the talented cast and crew, including Jonno Davies, Damon Herriman, Raechelle Banno, Kate Mulvany, and director Michael Gracey, stepping onto the dazzling red carpet to kick off the night. The premiere was made even more memorable with a special introduction from Michael Gracey, who welcomed guests to the screenings and shared the unique significance of the event. It was a full-circle moment, as the story returned to Melbourne—the very city where filming first began at Docklands Studios Melbourne with the teams at Weta Digital supported by VicScreen. A truly unforgettable night that set the stage for the film’s journey ahead! Better Man officially hits cinemas from Boxing Day.
