From courtroom to camera: Larissa Behrendt AO, a Euahlayai/Gamillaroi filmmaker, lawyer, and academic, has built an extraordinary career bringing First Nations stories to the screen. After becoming the first Indigenous Australian to graduate from Harvard Law School, she transitioned from fighting for justice in the courtroom to amplifying voices through award-winning films like After the Apology and Maralinga Tjarutka. Through Lavarch Productions, Larissa creates documentaries and dramas that spotlight resilience, strength, and social justice.
