  • We've kicked off construction of a new 4.5 million-litre water storage tank and 12-kilometre pipeline in Ceduna, improving drinking water security for the local community. We’ll work closely with local businesses throughout the project, supporting the region’s economy through jobs and services like accommodation, materials supply and equipment hire. As part of our commitment to community collaboration, our project team also recently took part in cultural awareness training at the Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation’s Mint Bush Gallery, which was organised through our major framework partner McConnell Dowell Diona joint venture. • Our Remote Communities’ team vehicle fleet is racking up the kilometres as it travels across SA’s vast Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands – from the borders of WA and the NT to the community of Indulkana in the east.   These rugged vehicles are helping our crews reach essential water and wastewater infrastructure in some of the state’s most remote communities, ensuring safe, clean drinking water and reliable wastewater services for locals.

  • Meet Kerrie, our Manager of Chemistry within SA Water’s Australian Water Quality Centre (AWQC) and Laboratory Services team.   With 18 years at SA Water, Kerrie plays a crucial role in ensuring the water our customers rely on is safe and of the highest quality.   While science is her career, music has always been a big part of her life. She’s been playing the flute since she was nine and even considered a career in music before choosing to pursue science instead.   For Kerrie, working in a STEM field –particularly one that’s still male-dominated – comes with a deep sense of purpose.   Every day, she’s not only focused on delivering high-quality outcomes for our customers but also setting an example for the next generation.   “I get to show my daughter what it looks like to be a strong, successful woman in STEM.”   We’re proud to have people like Kerrie at SA Water, bringing passion and expertise to everything they do.

  • Oh don’t mind Xing Qiu here, he’s just devouring some Adelaide-grown bamboo he just can’t get enough of!   The eight species of bamboo that support Adelaide Zoo’s giant panda pair Xing Qiu and Yi Lan is actually grown at a special plantation within our Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant site.   Recycled water from the plant irrigates the eight-hectare plantation that initially started as a eucalyptus site for the zoo’s koala population before it was repurposed for the bamboo.   The plantation is more than just a feeding ground – it represents the dedication of SA Water and Zoos South Australia to conservation and environmental preservation.

  • Today, we celebrate the incredible women who make a difference at SA Water and beyond.   As part of an extended International Women's Day, we held multiple events during the past week with our people, fostering conversations, taking action and championing progress.   ‘She Inspires: Celebrating SA Water women ‘– an inspiring panel featuring SA Water women who are shaping our industry and paving the way for future generations. Breaking barriers – we’re proud to be introducing free menstrual products in our bathrooms, ensuring dignity and accessibility for all. ‘Standing Together: Men as Allies’ – a powerful discussion highlighting how achieving gender equity is everyone’s responsibility, with men playing a vital role in driving meaningful change in the workplace and community.   Senior Research Fellow Dr Jodie Avery – shared valuable insights into her team's research in women's health and ways to improve quality of life personally and professionally.   We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive, today and every day. #MarchForward

Discover more incredible facts in our series of videos on the River Murray and the interagency effort it takes to manage this amazing system – including the work we do to operate locks and barrages on behalf of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority. We developed five videos for our education program The Well, and well, we’re pretty proud of how it highlights our part in looking after this incredible water source for South Australians.
