During Invisible Disabilities Week, we’re reminded that around 80 per cent of disabilities are invisible. 🌻 Team members across all 116 Service NSW Centres have been trained to recognise the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower symbol and support those who require additional time or understanding when using the services available. Meet Ryan, a Customer Service Representative who inspires us all. With his ADHD, he understands the challenges of invisible disabilities and provides exceptional support to our customers. You can find out more about the Sunflower, where to get a lanyard and other Sunflower-friendly locations on the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower - Australia & New Zealand website at https://lnkd.in/g-b_SiKP #InvisibleDisabilitiesWeek #Inclusive

Around 4.5 million Australians live with disability but not all disabilities are visible, which is why we provide an environment where everyone can feel safe, supported and understood as they carry out their government transactions. ⏰ We introduced Quiet Hour in 2023 to create a welcoming environment for people who have low sensory needs. 🌻 We're a proud member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, which aims to empower those living with hidden disability, by making the invisible, visible, through the Sunflower symbol. Together with communities, industry, and First Nations peoples, we are delivering necessary changes to power our state with affordable, clean and reliable energy for everyone. Our move to renewable energy will not only bring long-term energy affordability to households and businesses across the state, but also new investment to regional NSW, boosting funding and creating new local jobs. In fact, 6,300 construction jobs and 2,800 ongoing jobs are expected to be created across NSW by 2030. 💚 Let’s build an electricity system we can all be benefit from. National Carers Week is a time to recognise and raise awareness about the three million Australians who provide care to a family member or friend. Meet Sandra and Sam, two Service NSW team members who also care for their loved ones. Sandra says, “Raising a child with disability while balancing family and a career brings many challenges. Despite this, the rewards are immense—improving a personal’s quality of life, meeting daily needs and learning new skills. In this case my daughter who I wouldn’t change for the world.” Sam agrees, “No matter how hard my son struggles, I am proud of his courage and determination every single day. I hope that by sharing our story, we can promote education and understanding of hidden disabilities.” Swipe for the full Q&A below. NSW is leading a once-in-a-generation upgrade of the electricity network, building the infrastructure we need to keep the lights on. As we move away from coal-fired power, a mix of renewable technologies will power our state, including solar and wind farms and energy storage systems like big batteries. Progress is well underway. In fact, we have enough new projects signed up to get us almost halfway to our legislated 2030 renewable energy generation target. ✔️ Stay updated on our progress here: https://lnkd.in/gVXsrnFK #NSWElectricityRoadmap #ElectricityTransition #Energyforeveryone #EnergyFuture

Together with NSW Telco Authority, we are answering the calls of local communities to quickly restore connectivity following natural disasters by rolling out three new pop-up technologies which can be deployed in hours rather than weeks. The solutions include: · Portable connection units (PCUs) for Service NSW’s disaster recovery teams · Satellite-equipped Service NSW vehicles · Broadband Cells on Wheels (COWs) Each are designed to enable easy and secure access for NSW Government staff as well as local residents and businesses to the internet when commercial communication networks are limited, damaged or destroyed. These technologies will help address the objectives of the 2022 NSW Flood Inquiry and 2020 NSW Bushfire Inquiry by supporting disaster resilience and the community when and where they need it most. More information about NSW Telco Authority’s role in keeping people and places safe and communities connected can be found at https://lnkd.in/giq4R2sc
