Solving Complex Big Data & Cybersecurity Problems with Simplified Solutions
About us
Skillfield is a Melbourne-based big data solutions provider and professional services consultancy. We are here to help our clients unlock meaningful business insights and achieve market leadership through the design, development, and operation of big data solutions. We take complex IT problems and convert them into simple data solutions that not only simplify issues for our clients, but also extrapolate additional value too. Through the use and power of big data and the associated technology, we help clients detect cybersecurity events as they happen. We make use of advanced automation solutions that effectively fire off a three-tiered approach to security threats: alert, escalate and respond. Cybersecurity threats and data breaches are on the rise, and they’re happening at scale. In these instances, conventional security systems fail to recognise the threat before a breach has occurred, leaving businesses vulnerable to severe and ongoing attacks. Skillfield is trusted by Australia’s largest managed security service to build out their cybersecurity monitoring service and prevent these attacks from happening. We can do the same for your organisation in order to maximise your detection, escalation, and response capabilities.

We are aware of an increase in denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. A DoS attack is like a virtual traffic jam. They occur when cyber threat actors flood websites with internet traffic, making it difficult for real users to access services they rely on, such as banking, medical or shopping sites. Cyber threat actors can use devices across Australian homes and businesses to launch DoS attacks against Australian organisations. You can reduce the risk of your devices being used in a DoS attack against Australian organisations by: • keeping your devices updated • replacing default passwords with strong and unique passphrases • turning off features and services you don’t need. Managing massive volumes of security data is a challenge for many organisations. One of our clients, a leading telco, faced difficulties detecting Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) in real time. Their existing tools led to false positives, missed threats, and delayed responses. By using Machine Learning and Big Data with Databricks, they improved threat detection, cut through the noise, and strengthened proactive security monitoring. For organisations facing similar challenges, structuring security data, leveraging ML models, and implementing trend monitoring can make a real difference.
