Nights out at the House have never sounded better! 🎶 Earlier this week we officially launched Auracast™ broadcast audio across our Studio, Playhouse and Drama Theatre venues - elevating audience experiences by delivering audio streams directly to compatible hearing devices - such as earbuds, speakers, hearing aids, and receivers. As the first major cultural institution globally to have incorporated Auracast™ we're honoured to not only deliver these unique experiences to our visitors, but also to take this major step forward in achieving greater inclusion for all. Thank you to GN Group, Hearing Australia and National Acoustic Laboratories for helping us bring this incredible moment to life. 👏 #Auracast #Accessibility #Audiology #HearingLoss

Last week, thousands arrived across our venues to celebrate and explore gender, justice and equality at the annual All About Women festival. 👏 We were excited to host an incredible line-up of speakers including Gina Chick, Kara Swisher, Laura Henshaw, Dr. Tracy Westerman, Yumi Stynes, and many more. This years festival featured insightful discussions on important topics, celebrated the 'mate-rimony' of friendship, immersed audiences in lived stories with Punkaliyarra and explored the complex relationship between beauty, empowerment, and entrapment in a collaborative exhibition. A selection of talks are available on Stream to watch on demand. 📸 Anna Kucera, Cassandra Hannagan

On March 1st we strutted, shimmied and shone down Oxford Street with a group of 50 amazing people representing the Opera House in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade. We celebrate the unique stories of not only our parade participants, but those who have worked so hard in the past and continue to work to make Sydney a safe space for everyone to freely be themselves. Special thanks to: QMS Media for partnering with us (and sending some of your incredible staff to march with us). #EveryonesHouse #FreeToBe #SydneyMardiGras #MardiGras2025

Happy #InternationalWomensDay Today we're shining a spotlight on the first woman to play the Opera House, Winifred Atwell! 🎶 Nine years before our official completion in 1973, Winifred stepped on site to visit what would become our Concert Hall, and treated construction workers to an incredible rendition of Waltzing Matilda played on her iconic honky-tonk piano. 🎥 NFSA - National Film and Sound Archive of Australia

As we get ready for an exciting weekend at All About Women festival in celebration of International Women's Day this Saturday, we asked our team what they’re most looking forward to... 👏 Bec (Campaigns) - State of Emergency "I'm hoping to be inspired by Rosie Batty's resilience in the face of this national crisis and hear from an incredible line up of experts" 👏 Kel (Visitor Experience) - Feminist Roast: "I can't wait to become a human squinty-eyed cry-laughing emoji - can't think of a better way to kick off All About Women!" 👏 Tessa (External Communications) - Feeling the Heat: "Aging, especially for women, is so stigmatised in the media." Final tickets are now available: https://lnkd.in/gcf6zREW

Roses are red, violets are blue, there's nothing quite like an Opera House view! ❤️ Last Friday we celebrated the most romantic day of the year from dawn to dusk as a record number of 40 couples tied the knot beneath our iconic sails. We couldn't be more grateful to have played a part in so many beautiful weddings, and wish them all a lifetime of happiness together. 🥂 📸 Anica Hofmann Photography

Yesterday we explored film in groundbreaking new ways with the world premiere of Oleum: A Sydney Opera. 📽️ Commissioned by Sydney Opera House, and conceived by creative studio Subversus, Oleum is a provocative reframing of opera for the screen. The premiere screening was attended by cast and crew, including lead actors Maina Doe, Kevin Stathis, and composer Corin Ileto, and Sydney Opera House Trustee and Idealist donor Sara Watts. The screening was introduced by Sydney Opera House Head of Screen, Stuart Buchanan, and Oleum directors, Tanya Babic and Jason Sukadana, from Subversus. The film screens on NOWNESS from Saturday 25th January: https://lnkd.in/gY9vtVgG Oleum – A Sydney Opera was enabled by Sydney Opera House donor Prof Ross Steele AM, the Skrzynski Foundation and New Work Now donors. 📸 Ravyna Jassani
