We are very pleased to welcome the new appointments to the Art Gallery's Board of Trustees, announced by the NSW Government Cabinet today. From 2025, Michael Rose AM (pictured) will lead our Board as President, and The Hon. Peter Collins and Emile Sherman will serve as new trustees. We are also very fortunate to have current trustees Sally Herman OAM, Caroline Rothwell and Paris Neilson renewed for another term. With the conclusion this year of David Gonski AC's exemplary terms as President, we are confident that our Board will continue to carry exceptional standards of stewardship into the Art Gallery's future.

We’re pleased to share that Michael Brand, director of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, was made a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities (FAHA). Election to the Academy is the highest honour within the humanities in Australia. Dr Brand was one of seven Honorary Fellows recognised for their significant contribution to the Humanities and the arts, and to Australian cultural life. Other Honorary Fellows include Pat Anderson AO, Professor Sarah Holland-Batt, Dalisa Pigram, Stelarc and Rachael Swain. Congratulations to all of the Academy’s 41 new fellows. Our Art Gallery of NSW Foundation annual fundraising gala marked a very special milestone this year: celebrating 40 years of the Foundation championing and growing the collection. Over four decades, the Foundation has raised funds for the acquisition of many of our most beloved and admired artworks, and last Saturday, guests gathered in support of a new collection highlight. Over 300 guests embraced the surreal with Magritte-inspired costumes, a fantastical dinner and dreamlike performing artistry through the evening. We can’t thank everyone enough for their generous support – both on the night, and across the many years leading up to this anniversary.
