This Commercial & General development strengthens Australia’s national defence capabilities while contributing to our state’s economic growth.   Built on strong partnerships with Commercial & General and Babcock Australia & New Zealand, we are proud to have delivered this state-of-the-art 6,000m² facility. The project incorporates a custom built manufacturing workshop and warehouse, high-quality office space, and central town hall-style conference area, with modern amenities such as end-of-trip facilities and outdoor staff areas.   With 200 construction roles and 70,000 hours of on-site work over a 12-month build programme, this achievement reflects the collaborative efforts of our integrated team. Together with Commercial & General, we have delivered tailored development and construction solutions to provide Babcock Australia & New Zealand with a sector-leading facility. Tandem's ability to deliver projects across Victoria, Queensland and South Australia reinforces our expertise and geographic reach.   Aligned with Babcock’s Plan Zero 40 roadmap, the facility is designed with enhanced sustainability in mind, with key features including rainwater harvesting, large-scale rooftop solar, all electric plant and equipment, and charging facilities for electric fleet vehicles.   #workingintandem  

We have officially broken ground on the site of the future SANFL Talent & Community Facility, directly across the street from Football Park at West Lakes. Embracing the deep-rooted sporting history in the area, SANFL are expanding the opportunities available for emerging sportsmen and sportswomen in South Australia. This $25 million facility will feature an indoor training area, gymnasium, education and function spaces, and administration offices dedicated to talent development. This precinct will be an invaluable resource for nurturing local talent, supporting SANFL’s state under-16 and under-18 male and female teams, as well as First Nations and multicultural development programs. Tandem is proud to be delivering SANFL’s Talent & Community Facility, set for completion by the end of 2025. Located within Commercial & General’s award-winning WEST development, this project will further enhance the area’s reputation as a vibrant and connected community. #workingintandem

It was fantastic to deliver this purpose-built facility for Kongsberg Defence Australia, from the ECI phase right through to completion. The Kongsberg team are a pleasure to collaborate with, reflecting shared values of innovation and precision that drive both our teams. The striking façade with its unique precast panels was meticulously crafted to replicate the stone face of Norway’s fjords, a nod to Kongsberg’s heritage. Yesterday we officially launched our cutting-edge facility in Woodville North, South Australia, enhancing our maintenance and manufacturing footprint to support vital Defence programs. The new carbon-neutral facility features technology like a 99 kW solar array, ground water harvesting, electric vehicle changing stations, energy-saving lighting and end of trip facilities. By the end of 2024, over 100 engineers will deliver vital projects including Collins Class sustainment, Hunter Class frigate systems, and Counter Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (C-CBNRE) asset management services at the site. Commercial & General and Tandem Building were pivotal in turning the empty site into a remarkable facility in just over a year. Happy FriYAY! Take a look at our recent works to the curved cantilever staircase at Eighty Eight O'Connell! This standout feature will welcome visitors to each of the public laneways connecting east-west.   The staircase showcases the vision and collaboration behind this project, with architectural design by Woods Bagot, structural engineering by INNOVIS Consulting, and construction by yours truly 😉 working alongside Commercial & General to transform and revitalise O’Connell Street.    With fabricated metal balustrading soon to come, this staircase is set to be an eye-catching addition to the precinct and an impressive talking point on project completion, which is fast approaching.

Our Site Manager, Brett Hall, was thrilled to strike a pose at our recently completed project at Weeden Heights Primary School. 🕺🏻 Tandem are proud to have overseen the transformation of this school, including the brand-new administration building which features a welcoming reception, modern meeting rooms and practical staff facilities. With extensive experience in the education sector, Tandem is well-versed in delivering high-quality projects that cater to the unique needs of schools. After upgrading existing classrooms, the project wrapped up with a vibrant new courtyard featuring landscaped grounds and a DDA-compliant car park, creating a fresh, functional outdoor space for the school community. As the Principal of Weeden Heights Primary School put it, “With strong communication and high expectations of trades, the quality of work is outstanding and reassuring.” #workingintandem

#TEASER The construction of our new facility in Woodville North, South Australia has now reached practical completion! Construction officially launched in August 2023 and has been delivered on time thanks to South Australia’s leading developer Commercial & General and Tandem Building Group. This new purpose-built building will underpin our delivery of support to land and naval defence programs including in-service sustainment for the Collins Class submarine fleet, delivery of C-CBRNE asset management and solutions, and design and support of the Air Weapons Handling System for the Hunter Class Frigates. The increased size of the new facility will enable Babcock to grow the number of ongoing highly skilled jobs from 65 to more than 100 compared with our current Osborne premises which we’ll be vacating soon. In line with Babcock’s Plan Zero 40 roadmap, the facility has been designed to be operationally net zero from the outset through rainwater harvesting, large scale roof top solar, electric plant and equipment and the use of electric fleet vehicles.

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of Kongsberg Defence Australia’s facility in Mawson Lakes.   This multifaceted project involved complex building elements and unique security requirements, all expertly delivered by our talented team. This facility has been built with the goal of achieving LEED Platinum certification through integrating best practice ESD initiatives to provide energy efficiency, water conservation and improved indoor air quality.   From the early contractor involvement phase through to the completion of this innovative project, we are delighted to have been in partnership with Kongsberg Defence Australia and deliver their first facility in the Asia-Pacific region.   A special thanks to our project team David Beare, Michael Peck, Manuel Mastramico, Carl Fitzpatrick, Cain Sumner and the entire onsite team for their hard work and dedication.   #workingintandem
