💡 Spotlight on a Staff Member This month we'd like to feature one of our talented Software Developers, Neil Richardson. Neil has a Bachelor in Computer Science and has been working as a Software Engineer, Systems Engineer or Systems Administrator for over 23 years, with extensive experience in telecommunications and cybersecurity fields. A career highlight of his includes 6 patents being lodged around virtual machine provisioning and novel cyber security techniques. As a key team player in the Software Development team at Tape Ark | Global Experts in Tape to Cloud Migration, Neil's primary role is migrating customer data from tapes (and index cards) into the cloud, building the catalogue station software, building general tools and libraries for the dev team to use and R&D tasks such as working with tape encryption. Several notable project win's Neil has delivered at Tape Ark include; ⚡ Reducing the cost footprint of a cataloguing station that can be deployed anywhere in the world 💲 ⚡ Finished a 80TB project in 70 hours 🙌 ⚡Built a bespoke hardware/software stack for taking high quality images on movie frames and index cards; building automatic image cropping; and optical character recognition of handwritten text 👊 Neil's hobbies include bird watching, reading comic books, watching horror movies, running, cycling and snorkeling.
