If you’re a health professional educator, or supervisor, imagine this: Imagine being able to demonstrate a skill… and your learners being able to instantly understand it, repeat it and master it. ▶ Occupational therapy students would be able to quickly learn how to adjust and tailor equipment. ▶ Early career podiatrists would rapidly further and refine their skills in intricate procedures. ▶ And physios could teach patients how to activate their deep core muscles in a fraction of the time. A large part of what we do in health is practical. And one of the best ways to teach practical skills is by giving good demonstrations 🙌 Unfortunately, we can’t just do a demonstration and expect learners to get it, or be able to do the skills to the same level, straight away. BUT, there are things we can do to emphasise the elements that improve our demonstrations… and decrease the things that detract from them. In this post, a 5-step process for delivering more effective demonstrations that is: 👉 well suited to many settings in health; and 👉 wrapped in the evidence for why it works. #alliedhealth
