Many experts predict that the forces shaping the second quarter of the 21st century – climate change, extremism, and machine intelligence – will accelerate inequality and marginalisation, unless we choose to do something about it. In response, with seed funding from the Paul Ramsay Foundation, we’re starting the National Futures Initiative. The ambition is to create the opportunity and resources for individuals, communities and organisations to explore the future and inform the development of services, policies and systems that will shape it. And the plan is to do this by partnering with like-minded organisations across Australia. Find out more and learn how to get involved: https://lnkd.in/g3miuuAp

About us
We’re the Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI), an independent, not-for-profit organisation working across Australia. We partner with communities and organisations to put people at the heart of shaping their lives and society. Together, we tackle big social challenges and build the conditions for social innovation. At the heart of TACSI lies the fundamental belief that people are the experts in their own lives. We believe that the best innovations come from working alongside the people who face the very challenges we're trying to solve. Interested in working together? Send us an email at info@tacsi.org.au

Thanks for sharing our Now-Future-How report Fire to Flourish! This important project builds resilience and grows the power of place based and community-led action in bushfire recovery communities. Read the report below 👇🏼
After the 2019-20 bushfires, it was clear that communities needed more support to lead their own disaster recovery and preparedness. Fire to Flourish was convened in direct response to those fires - an innovative experiment in truly community-led, long-term disaster resilience. We are pleased to share this report led by The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI), with insights from a pilot community-led approach called Now-Future-How, conducted in Clarence Valley, NSW. This report presents the methods, lessons and opportunities of the Now-Future-How model to support disaster-affected communities. #firetoflourish #disasterresilience #disasterrecovery #communitydevelopment #sustainabledevelopment #emergencymanagement #clarencevalley Monash University | Monash Sustainable Development Institute | Paul Ramsay Foundation | The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI)

Did you know that carers contribute over 2.2 billion hours of care annually, or 42 million hours weekly across Australia? At TACSI, we’re proud to recognise National Carers Week, which runs from October 13th to 19th. This week is dedicated to celebrating, supporting and raising awareness for the 3 million Australians who selflessly care for a family member or friend. We’re committed to supporting carers through our Weavers peer support program, which provides a flexible model that can be adapted to various caregiving situations. We consistently work within the peer space across our projects, promoting and informing peer practice. National Carers Week is the perfect time to shine a light on the critical needs of carers and celebrate organisations like Mission Australia Shoalhaven, Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra, and Illawarra Women's Health Centre, who have embedded peer support in their carer services. Over the last three days, our Adelaide team has been at the National Aboriginal Child Safety and Domestic Violence Summit held on Kaurna Lands. This year's theme, Creating a Space for Change, has inspired innovative approaches to Aboriginal family and domestic violence, as well as child protection across Australia. Speakers shared forward-thinking ideas, culturally safe responses, and best practices aimed at improving outcomes for Aboriginal women, children, men, families, and the wider community. Thank you to KWY Aboriginal Corporation for hosting this inspiring event. #KWYNationalSummit #CreatingaSpaceforChange

👀 Spotted: TACSI program Family By Family mentioned in University of Adelaide's BetterStart Health and Development Research. We continue to be impressed at the data that shows that families choosing their own goals works, and that programs like Family by Family can exist alongside other services to be successful. Thanks for sharing Michael Lenczner!
Cool stuff at #IPDLN2024 https://lnkd.in/e6CNxdiS “BEBOLD is dedicated to generating Better Evidence (BE) to inform services that generate Better Outcomes (BO), and we do this work using Linked Data (LD). The research program aims to contribute to breaking cycles of disadvantage throughout the life course in its many forms (e.g. health, socioeconomic, social disadvantage) by informing policy, and service design and delivery.”

Talking about death and dying does not need to be a difficult conversation. One of our favourite ways to have meaningful conversations about death is Carked it! – a game designed by our friends at The Ageing Revolution in collaboration with the Good Death Impact Network and supported by Equity Trustees. The award-winning game challenges conventional norms, and sparks open conversations around death, life and end-of-life planning.
