This Friday, 1 November at 11am AEDT, we continue our Industry Webinar series and this time we are going to have a focus on the all important aviation landscape. As we have seen with tourism’s post-pandemic recovery, aviation capacity is vital and whilst the sector has largely recovered to around 100 per cent of 2019 levels, we know that recovery is mixed across markets. We will hear from Virgin Australia CEO Jayne Hrdlicka with the latest updates on what is happening at the airline, and the new CEO of the Australian Airports Association (AAA), Simon Westaway, will give us an update on developments from our airports across the country. Tourism Australia has a long history of working with leading identities across the food and drink industry to showcase our world class food and drink offerings to the world. This month we’ve been continuing this work by hosting some of the International Academy Chairs from ‘The World's 50 Best Restaurants’ and top tier international media to grow and convert the global appetite for Australia as a travel destination internationally. The itinerary for the visiting Academy Chairs and media has been carefully crafted and includes visits to restaurants in Melbourne / Narrm, Hobart / nipaluna and Sydney / Warrane including visits to city-based fine diners such as Vue De Monde, Quay and Saint Peter. Regional restaurants and experiences have also been on the program including Brae in Victoria’s Otway’s, The Agrarian Kitchen and Lark Distillery in regional Tasmania and shucked oysters in the Hawkesbury region. Throughout the visits, media have had the opportunity to meet the people behind the dishes and the producers harvesting the ingredients.
