Tasmania’s tourism and hospitality industry has enjoyed a string of prestigious awards both nationally and internationally recently – a reflection of our communities and operators’ dedication to delivering top tier products and experiences from across the state. With an award-winning food, wine, and spirits scene, as well as The Agrarian Kitchen being Australia’s Best Restaurant, Devonport named Australia’s Top Tourism Town, wukalina Walk listed in the The Times World’s Greatest Places, Herseys Seafood Restaurant, winning Australia’s best Seafood restaurant and Tasmania making The New York Times 52 Best Places to Visit list, our island is quickly becoming the nation’s standout state. Tasmania has recorded the most successful year on record at the 2024 Australian Top Tourism Town Awards, with three towns claiming podium finishes. Devonport was named Australia’s Top Tourism Town, while Stanley was awarded Silver in the Tiny Town Category and Richmond Bronze in the Small Town category. Congratulations to the tourism communities in Devonport, Richmond and Stanley on their achievements. 

Our Pre-Season Industry Update Events kick off around Tasmania next week, with tourism and hospitality operators invited to come along and hear what's planned for the summer season. We will share an overview of winter 2024 and our latest Off Season campaign, what to expect for the upcoming season and how to leverage the Come Down For Air campaign in your businesses. Events will be held in Launceston, Stanley and Queenstown next week, with Swansea, Hobart and the Huon Valley to follow the week after.

Tourism Tasmania has partnered with Air New Zealand on an advertising campaign and flight sale to raise awareness for the recommencing Auckland to Hobart route in October. The campaign aims to attract Kiwi travellers to Tasmania during spring and summer, including through a national 48-hour flight sale running today and tomorrow (12-13 August). Advertising promoting Tasmanian experiences and events will be in market until 18 August. Media channels include online video, out of home, social, digital display, press, and Tourism Tasmania and Air New Zealand channels.

Members of Tasmania's tourism and hospitality industry are invited to a pre-season update event as we move into the summer season.
