In late April, USYD Rocketry Team journeyed to Mullaley. Amidst the scenic rural setting, we successfully completed two launches of Archtail, the teams’ first ever kit hybrid! Every moment contributed strongly to the team's operational learning and experience especially for our new members. A special thank you to NSW Rocketry Association for organising this event! It was such an amazing opportunity to see some other teams from around NSW, and also for our members to launch their very own LPR’s (low powered rockets)! USYD Rocketry is celebrating International Women and Girls in Science Day! We are incredibly proud of our skilled female engineers. USYD Rocketry aims to promote and create a space for female representation in engineering and to end gender stereotypes. We like to think we are breaking the glass ceiling with a high-powered rocket! We hope that the work and achievements of our female teammates inspire a brand-new generation of young female engineers. This year, the team is excited to announce our new outreach project, GLIDER: Girls Leading In Diverse Engineering Roles. USYD Rocketry will address the gender imbalance in STEM fields by connecting female students with the opportunities and resources they need to pursue further STEM education. USYD Rocketry Team is thrilled to announce our hybrid engine project, Wattle! The Wattle engine is a momentous achievement for our team. From thousands of hours spent designing, analysing, manufacturing and testing, the project has significantly elevated the team's technical capabilities. We are very proud of this journey, owing the success of Wattle to our dedicated members who worked endlessly on this project. The team is also proud to announce the establishment of a permanent rocket engine testing facility at the University of Sydney's Arthursleigh farm. This puts our team in an excellent position to further develop and test our research, grow our knowledge, excel in the future, and we can't wait to share results from our testing. This week, members of USYD Rocketry Team volunteered to help set up for the annual Chancellor's Committee Book Fair. The book fair is on again this year and is at the Great Hall from September 9 to 13. First run in 1986 under the name Bookfest, the Book Fair is entirely organised and operated by the volunteers of the Chancellor’s Committee. Their efforts not only save over 50,000 books each year from landfills but also lead to a significant benefit to the community. The University of Sydney's Chancellor's Committee provides ongoing support and plays a pivotal role in our team's journey. We are sincerely grateful for their continuous backing and could not have come this far without them!
